Archer (TV Series)

Archer is one of the few western animated TV series that I have been following for quite a long time. For almost 10 years, I followed Archer TV series up to Season 7 which is quite a rollercoaster ride and only until recently that I got the opportunity to marathon this series right until its finale. Archer is a Super Spy animation series targeted for mature audience featuring a severely Alcoholic douchebag yet somehow highly functional Secret Agent named Sterling Archer as the main protagonist that comes along with equally dysfunctional team members. If you have Super Spy with quality like James Bond that comes with extremely self centered personality, behaving like major assholes to almost everyone yet somehow still being the best one in the profession, you got yourself Sterling Archer!

As a pulp spy adventures, Archer is one of the better that I have come around. I actually got introduced with Archer series through Zen Pinball which happened to feature this series on PS Vita. The series revolve around the many dangerous yet thrilling  situations that Archer and his Spy Agency came across around the globe from their subterfuge operations. But what could have been an easy mission for the Super Spy like Archer gets much more difficult than neccesary mostly from Archer and his teammates being bunch obnoxious pricks most of the time. Even at times I felt Archer is way too autistic to realistically survive for long as a 'Man of Danger' in his line of work, but he does have some kind of unique quality that makes his misadventures to last more than a decade and entertaining one.

Considering a single article won't be sufficient to cover the entirety of this TV series. I will just focus my overall thought of my Marathon of Archer from Season 8 to 14. Firstly, I am quite surprised that Archer could survive from season 8 to 10 solely using alternate universe setting tropes which consist of Roaring 20s Noir, Indiana Jones and Space Adventure and then somehow able to continue normally as a constant roller coaster ride.

But due to untimely passing of Jessica Walters who voiced Malory Archer who is one of the crucial main characters in Season 12, Archer TV series decided to conclude in Season 14 which arguably a well made decision as the series did conclude in high note. Considering Archer did try to comply with the questionable mainstream narrative in Season 13&14 to fill in the void from Malory's exit which probably didn't work out too well. If Malory could have been around little longer, Archer was likely could have a couple more seasons but the Finale of the Season 14 did wrapped up most of the things in Archer series quite properly.

Personally out of Archer Cast, Malory's secretary, Cheryl is my least favorite since the writer had her stuck being a chaotic evil psychopathic Pyromaniac most of the time for no good reason which just didn't appeal much to me. Despite Cheryl voice actress is quite capable of performing more versatile role just like Cheryl's stint as Country singer back in S5. On the other hand, Malory is easily the best supporting character in Archer series despite being a neglectful and manipulative mother of Archer which could have used more flashback stories, therefore the Voice actress passing did severely affect Archer Tv series run. If Archer production team wished to have a spiritual continuation of Archer, they could work something out with Archer's daughter Abbiejean adventure in continuing her parents footsteps with Archer's supposed bastard son Seamus tagging along. For all of its good and bad, I wished Archer could have more collectibles during its run or possibly in the future.
