Using the usual reserved weekly review spot on Realm of Darkness for a special announcement! After running for almost six months, Mecharashi, the recent mecha gacha game inspired by Front Mission, has kicked off its first collaboration event with Evangelion on January 15th, 2026! To celebrate this exciting milestone, I’m dedicating a blog post to highlight this collab event.
Evangelion collaborations are hardly new in the mobile gacha scene, and Mecharashi’s event follows the familiar formula: Shinji, Asuka, and Rei appear as special collab characters, each paired with their iconic Evangelion mecha redesigned in Mecharashi’s unique style. Personally, I’m planning to roll for Asuka at least, since she’s arguably the strongest being melee monster, and I might try for Shinji as well if I have spare gacha currency.
I’ll also take this post as an opportunity to share my current progress in the game. So far personally I have rather mixed feelings about Mecharashi’s gameplay; there are way too many progression speedbumps for a gacha game. That said, I’m willing to overlook these frustrations for now because I believe the game shows potential that Final Gear unable to reach.
Despite my occasional discontent, I sincerely wish the best for Mecharashi’s future. Mecha games are scarce on mobile platforms, and it’s great to have a solid one that could thrive long-term. Hopefully, Mecharashi will not only survive until the next collab with Dragon Knight Wataru but also flourish, paving the way for more exciting collaborations in the future.
