April May 2026 Loot

 

Another two months, another sumptuous banquet of loot. I might be acquiring a bit too much at this rate, but overall, it’s a very solid haul featuring a great variety across the low, mid, and high-end spectrums. I am particularly happy with this round because I managed to complete a couple of significant sets: namely, Fruity Robo and B-Daman Bakugaiden. I’m really looking forward to seeing Fruity Wargod and Saint Blaster fully assembled.

As expected, and in alignment with the interests I've shared on this blog, this haul is predominantly filled with mecha. It starts with the enormous model kits from Pino Flight and Huang Di, alongside the LOGH Brunhild ship model. Without a doubt, the crown jewels of this haul belong to the die-cast department, with Dragon Knight Renata being the most valuable piece of the lot. Furthermore, despite its poorly illustrated box art, the Chinese version of the Chogokin Sazabi FF is a surprisingly solid value; I would have considered getting the Bandai original if they didn't make the hurdles so much harder for overseas collectors. While I am not usually into "Designer" variants of Gundam figures, I decided to grab a copy of the Year of the Horse edition RX-78-2 for an extra luck boost—being a Horse zodiac myself who has to survive the trial of the Fire Horse year.

Surprisingly, the scale anime collectibles in this haul were pretty much an afterthought. Apart from Myethos Citlali, whose box I swapped with a cake box that worked out quite well due to badly damaged packaging, most were just random acquisitions. I got most of them from a local hobby store called Lichtshein, which runs an interesting gacha-based merchandise exchange that offers solid value for money. Through them, I scored some Genshin Impact collectibles and a figma Raphtalia at a great rate, and I wouldn't mind supporting their business again in the future if they keep offering such a good proposition.

Overall, this has been a very solid two months of hauls. It has greatly enhanced the variety of my collection while consolidating some major existing sets.

Legend of Galactic Heroes 1/3000 Hyperion Plamo

Out of the blue, Kotobukiya is back with Legend of the Galactic Heroes and this time it’s something for fans of the classic OVA series rather than Die Neue These. Just right after the Die Neue These version of the flagship Hyperion, Kotobukiya is now releasing the OVA version of Hyperion back to back.Scheduled for a June 2026 release, the 1/3000-scale OVA Hyperion model kit will retail for 8,800 yen.

Just like its Die Neue These counterpart, the kit measures over 30 cm in length, making it an impressively sized display piece.One can’t help but wonder why Kotobukiya chose 2026 for the OVA version’s release, as the timing would have been perfect years ago alongside their Yang Wen-li PVC figure. That said, this release is still a major win for LOGH fans who remain loyal to the OVA, which many consider the definitive adaptation of this space opera.

If this release is any indication, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Brünhild follow as an OVA-version model kit. After all, an eternal rivalry feels incomplete without both sides represented.

 

LOGH Die Neue These 1/3000 Hyperion

 
 Not long after Die Neue These version of Brynhild Model kit was released, Yang Wenli's flagship, Hyperion followed up quite quickly not falling behind with his eternal rival. Released as 1/3000 Model kit just like Brynhild, this one will also spans around 30 cm long. Scheduled for April 2026 release, 1/3000 Hyperion will be sold for 9000 Yen price tag.

Personally, I never paid much attention with Hyperion whether in original OVA or Die Neue These because the focal point of Free Planet Alliance faction are always Yang Wenli, whose god-like tactical prowess even limited with strategical constraints still made him a name to be feared by Galactic Empire top military. 

However looking at DNT design for Hyperion, It is certainly a huge leap compared to the original OVA design which the three pronged antenna design on the ship makes it sticks out in negative way. Hyperion might not be comparable to Brynhild as the pinnacle of function and elegance, but it is still a state of the art Battleship that will not fail the expectation as the flagship for the greatest admiral of Free Planet Alliance.

Since I still have Nendoroid Yang Wenli in my collection, I might likely obtain this one because it wouldn't be fair for the Magician Yang to face his greatest rival without a flagship of his own. I am still also waiting for Barbarossa because Brynhild is not complete without her loyal companion and guardian. 

LOGH Die Neue These 1/3000 Brynhild

 LOGH despite being a legendary Scifi series in Japan are still relatively niche series when it comes to merchandising, However, Kotobukiya being Gigachad as ever do try their chances with LOGH just like with other great but neglected series. Thus before we are even getting the 5th season of Die Neue These, Kotobukiya decide to release Model Kit for Kaiser Reinhard Von Lohengramm Flagship, Brynhild in 1/3000 scale rendition! Scheduled for December 2025 release, Kotobukiya's 1/3000 Brynhild will be sold for 8800 Yen.

Kotobukiya did some PVC Figure for LOGH OVA couple years ago considering the OVA remained to be the GOAT stuff in anime industry. But I never expected they picked interest on Die Neue These considering the series are not exactly performing particularly well as IP. Even so, The model kit looks quite promising as it is quite a big one spanning over 34 cm long and certainly Nendoroid Reinhard will be happy with this.

Despite not living up to the OVA's legacy, I am still willing to put faith with Die Neue These next anime season just I take interest onto this model kit. I don't actually mind getting Barbarossa too if Kotobukiya decided to ever make one because the legendary flagship do deserve its companion.

LOGH Digsta Yang Wenli Scale Figure

 Even as Die Neue These able to continue LOGH series legacy and become somewhat well respected series on its own. To this day, The Original OVA is still more well regarded and end up the recipient of new merchandises by Japanese Manufacturer. After Kotobukiya tried their chances couple years ago, It is the turn of a particular figure manufacturer called Digsta to try their luck with LOGH. After announcing their version of Reinhard von Lohengramm early this year, they are now ready to continue with the Free Planet Alliance best Admiral, Yang Wenli the Magician! Scheduled for November 2024, this non scale figure of Yang Wenli will be sold for 9900 Yen.

While the effort is praiseworthy for making LOGH Scale Figure as affordable as possible, Digsta's version is quite a miss due to glaringly worse sculpt quality compared to Kotobukiya. This is why their Reinhard PVC figure got overlooked by me despite their well intentioned effort. In any case this will be still an acceptable collectible for LOGH Collectors that miss the kotobukiya version considering these stuffs fetch rather exorbitant price in Japanese aftermarket like the Die Neue These Nendoroid which fetch for 30000 Yen price tag. Hopefully there will be another manufacturer to take on LOGH considering I wouldnt mind to double dip for Die Neue These Yang Wenli Scale Figure.

Legend of Galactic Heroes Die Neue These : Sakubou

  Took me couple of years to return back to Die Neue These, but i am very glad that I get to finish marathoning up to the latest cour of the legendary space opera remake in anticipation for the peak moment of LoGH due in next production season. Die Neue These: Sakubou is the 4th Cour of the LoGH remake which comparitively lack in the combat department when compared to previous seasons but in the political scenes, the balls are rolling for the epic showdown of Operation Ragnarok and the last episode really conclude the season with very high note. By the 3rd season, Studio IG really show attempts to try live up to the OVA legacy with expanding on certain scene down further in order which can be hit or miss. However the effort is evident enough to prove Studio IG Production team respect toward this legendary Space Opera despite DNT kinda lag 4 episodes behind the original OVA at this point. 

As someone who have watched the OVA several times before. Trust me you will not want to miss the 5th season because it will cover one of the highest peak moment of the series. I just hope the 5th season will cover the FPA preparation side properly because the Galactic Empire occupies most of the limelight of DNT 4th season.

Legend of Galactic Heroes - Die Neue These Interlude

 It has been 4 years since the last time I watched IG Production's take on Legend of Galactic Heroes dubbed Die Neue These or "The New Thesis". To be honest DNT had rather underwhelming beginning for the series fans who watched the OVA and doomed not to be able to surpass the former. However it is very commendable for IG Production to be undaunted by their shortcomings and keep continuing their effort and commitement for this Legendary series, in fact they have made it to the 4th season is a feat that is very praiseworthy in the present anime industry. In this Blog post I will discuss some of the reasons why Die Neue These doesn't seem appear to be capable of reaching the level of the OVA's Legacy 

LOGH Die Neue These Non Scale Brynhild

 The Legendary Heroes from LOGH are not complete without their Flagship! It took more than a year but we are getting Reinhard Von Lohengramm's famed white flagship, Brynhild in the Die Neue These form. The Brynhild comes in the form of Non-Scale Model Kit dubbed Hyper Construction Kit which is made by Aquamarine and will be sold for 4800 Yen. While the manufacturer are not well known for their Model Kit Product, the quality should not be that bad at very least. No Doubt this one will complement Nendoroid Reinhard which was released last year and i will get this one for Reinhard. I think Barbarossa and Hyperion could have a good chance to make it as well but it does depend how well this kit are sold as well. As for the Die Neue These animation itself, we are supposed to see the continuation of the tv series in Movie Trilogy starting next month. But for some reason i haven't seen any update on the movie which makes it rather worrisome.

February 2019 Loot

 Another spending spree that goes overboard this month as piles of my Preorder are coming in successions. As usual i got myself some FGO stuff and surprisingly my GSC haul this time are quite significant but mostly are from the items i highlighted in this blog before. I got myself my first Soul of Chogokin  which is Daitarn 3 since i am quite a fan of this guy ever since i played SRW and one day would love to get the proper one complete with gimmicks. As much as i  like to give review for the Figmas. i think the priority order is quite low among the list considering my ton of backlog of review material. I think the Candy Toys will get the review soon especially Gundam Ensemble which i missed one edition already. The best out of this haul is probably Nendoroid 600 Saber Special Edition which is my way to appreciate the 15th anniversary of Fate series after completing my FSN VN run.

Yami's Wonderfest Winter 2019 Highlight

 It is this particular time every year where the the floodgates are released for the Toy Collectors. As usual temptations are always flying everywhere which may make your wallet go bust. Like every previous Wonderfest, i always make coverage that highlights things that catches my attention but this time i will make separate post for FGO since i got assignment for that one and might as well make a new material out of it.

Legend of Galactic Heroes ARTFXJ 1/8 Yang Wenli Review

 It took me longer than expected but finally i got opportunity to make a Review for Kotobukiya's Yang Wenli figure. When i finished Legend of Galactic Heroes few years ago, i promised to myself to get Yang Wenli's figure if it ever released, because it is the least thing i can do for this masterpiece of a series. To those who never watched LoGH , they might find this figure look rather unremarkable and wonder why such plain looking Guy got a figure. But being the pivotal character in LOGH, Yang Wenli deserve one even if it takes 30 Years, such a shame it is unlikely we will see a character of such Caliber in the future.

July 2018 Loot

 Since i work in toys industry, i am getting most of my stuff through preorders these days and i just got some of them this month. I have featured most of them in this blog since they are in my hit list already save for Gundam Converge which i started to collect again after a long break. Out of these items, i probably hyped Sentinel's Mospeada the most because the series scarcely have toys. Probably Yang Wenli is the first to get reviewed out of the bunch being a PVC Figure. Whereas it will be a long time before i review the new F91 MG but i do look forward to the new features that the MG had over the old one.

Nendoroid 951 Yang Wenli

 The Magician Yang now returns with his new appearance in the form of Nendoroid! GSC spares no time after Die Neue These airing and we are getting the merchandise as fast as they could produce. Scheduled for December Release with the price tag of 4500 Yen. The accessories are nothing flashy like Reinhard's Throne but Yang's tea set will fit well with Reinhard's baked Pie. Speaking of Die Neue These, i think Yang's Voice Actor Kenichi Suzumura did relatively better job compared to Mamoru Miyano but to be fair it is hard to replicate Ryo Horikawa's who nailed on Reinhard's dignified mannerism spot on. When the first season of Die Neue These ends, i think i will do a brief review for the series. As for now the only thing left for the LOGH Merchandise is the flagships Model Kits which Kotobukiya probably will pick it up.

Nendoroid 937 Reinhard Von Lohengramm

 I saw the Prototype for Nendoroid Yang Wenli from the new LOGH a while ago but turns out Kaiser Reinhard got the first dibs. Scheduled for This year's November release with 5000 Yen Price Tag, Reinhard von Lohengramm from the LOGH Reboot series, is getting a Nendoroid treatment. Being Overpriced as usual, i think Reinhard could have used a miniature of his Flagship Brunhild as his Nendoroid Accessories but his throne chair doesn't look too bad. Nevertheless the Nendo still capture the Porcelain Doll with Sharp blue stare look for Reinhard so i might get this one in place of Kotobukiya's figure.

 Speaking of the new LoGH Reboot, Die Neue These. Studio IG definitely did try their best to live up to the Previous OVA standard even though it won't reach the original OVA level because the latter had budgets and stellar director to back it up. One interesting thing that i find after reading the LoGH Novel is that the Original OVA actually fleshes out the Novel even further and did a great job on it, which is why the OVA stays legendary. At any rate i think the Tv series will close its 12-13 Episode with the conclusion of Amlitzer Battle just fine considering that was where the First volume of the Novel Ended. And i think IG Studio will use the movie to cover Lippstadt civil war arc which should work just fine with the pacing of that particular Arc. Die Neue These might not surpass the OVA but it gives the opportunity for the series to get Merchandises that the series deserves and i will try to support it as best as i could especially if we get the Flagship Model kits.

Legend of Galactic Heroes Novel

 Finally managed to get the LOGH novel into my collection which i had already planned even since a western publisher picked the series up. Legend of Galactic Heroes still remain the best anime i have ever watched and i am doing what i can to support this Masterpiece. I recall the Novel had around 10 Volumes and so my collection is still halfway to go, the publisher is working up to 8th Volume now and i hope they will commit till the end. I think each volume of the Novel worth about 10-15 episodes of the original OVA. For now i have just finished the first volume which roughly cover until the conclusion of Amlitzer/Amritsar battle. Compared to the Novel, i think the OVA fleshes out more at some aspects for instance the OVA expands on the Schenkopp Recruitment and the Iserlohn Capture part. Reading the novel makes me appreciate the OVA even better since they perfected the novel which has been really good already. Anyway i think i will enjoy my experience reading through the novel.

Legend of Galactic Heroes ARTFX 1/8 Siegfried Kircheis

 As the last of the three of the LoGH Figurine made by Kotobukiya, we got the release info for Future Galactic Emperor's Best Friend Siegfried Kircheis! The ARTFX Siegfried Kircheis will be released on March next year and just according to my prediction, the price tag is the same with Yang Wenli costing 9000 Yen. Personally i would have got Kircheis even if i didn't get Reinhard because he is one of the most likable guy in LoGH series but Kotobukiya decided to screw up with his Figure and Reinhard. The Face Expression is clearly rushed job just like Reinhard which is a big deal for a figurine. Kircheis is Reinhard's Best Friend and played huge role in his life who's the only one able to correct Reinhard from straying away of his path. In LoGH Kircheis is probably the paragon of loyalty and kindness since he have all quality that you want from a friend. Speaking his design for the Anime Reboot, i think Kircheis look most horrible of the three characters. I would have got Kircheis Figure if it done right but Kotobukiya simply refuse my money for messing up their job.

Legend of Galactic Heroes Reboot Trailer

 After few years in planning finally we are getting a glimpse of the new anime adaptation of LOGH series. I can't really say much at the moment but the reboot seems to go into proper direction. Because the I.G Studio looks quite serious on the adaptation project therefore i will give the series a proper attention to appreciate their effort. To be honest even if the LoGH OVA series animation aged slightly it is still a masterpiece and it will be a tall order for the Reboot to surpass it. From the trailer, the new Character Design for Yang Wenli and Reinhard is not really a huge improvement of the old design but still better than the manga version. However i had my doubts with the new ship design. The LoGH series reboot will be airing on Spring 2018 as 12 Episode Tv series for the first part and 3 Movies for the second part. I do hope from the bottom of my heart for this series to succeed because the Original OVA is still Timeless Masterpiece.

Legend of Galactic Heroes ARTFX 1/8 Reinhard von Lohengramm

 Sieg Mein Kaiser, Sieg Kaiser Reinhard! Following after Yang Wenli, The Magician's eternal rival; Reinhard von Lohengramm got the Release announcement! Being the second out of three LoGH character that got Figure treatment as the part of Kotobukiya's LoGH project, Reinhard's Figure will be released on March Next Year with 10000 Yen Price Tag. I suppose the Cape does cost 1000 Yen extra. For Reinhard, I think the sculptor doesn't really nail His Characteristic with the figure perfectly. The pose is fine but I think it is mainly due to the uninterested look of the Figure's eyes that makes Reinhard's ARTFX Figure a slight miss. The Figure's eye expression makes the Reinhard looks arrogant with slight notion of incorruptible virtue. For Reinhard i think the figure is better suited with expression of gazing at the long distance with determined look which display Reinhard's virtue of Courage and Justice better. For one the few fictional character that i look up to, i am not really bent on getting this version of Reinhard Figure. Considering there is a chance that Kotobukiya will likely release Reinhard Figure with longer hair version which they will likely portray his character better. So i am crossing my hands on this one for now.

Legend of Galactic Heroes ARTFX 1/8 Yang Wenli

 Kotobukiya is quite fast on this one,  shortly after the finished prototype shown in Wonderfest Last month we got the release detail for ARTFX Yang Wenli. Slated for January next year, the figure come with the price of 9000 Yen. Posed with holding his beret while showing gentle smile, Kotobukiya captured the character of Yang Wenli's character really well with the figure. In the series, leading the 13th Fleet Yang Wenli is mostly known for being the only person who can fight toe to toe with the future Galactic Emperor, Reinhard von Lohengramm. But what i admire from Yang's character is his virtue of Wisdom and willingness to fight for his ideal even though he serve dying nation rife of corruption like Free planet Alliance.  I will definitely preorder this figure and likely get Reinhard and Kircheis because i just really respect LOGH as a series and doing my part to contribute. I think Reinhard's Artfx will come with slightly higher pricetag but as for Kircheis, it will roughly cost the same with Yang Wenli.

Wonderfest Summer 2017 Highlights

 As usual i always do coverage about Wonderfest whenever they appear. Compared the one earlier this year, The summer 2017 doesn't seem as exciting to me as you see more of the Manufacturer's progress on their prototype from the Winter Wonderfest. As always only mecha related stuff that piqued my interest and stay away from moeshits like a plague. In any case Kotobukiya and Sentinel seems to fill my expectation again this time.
