Space King: The Board Game

After a very successful run over the past few years, Flashgitz’s Warhammer 40K-inspired animated series, Space King, has reached another major milestone. Announced alongside the release of its fifth episode, Space King is now getting its own board game. The game is being launched as a Kickstarter campaign running through the end of September, with pledges starting at $99.

For its initial board game launch, Space King follows the typical Kickstarter board game formula: it is heavily focused on miniatures and appears to be firmly in the American-style board game genre. If the project proves successful, I could see a more retail-friendly version following in the near future, which is something I would be particularly interested in, since I have never been particularly into miniature-heavy games.

Having followed Flashgitz since their Space Hulk animation days, I am not particularly surprised that the Space King series has reached this level of success. The series has managed to tap into the Warhammer 40K market by offering a very well-made parody that can stand on its own. As long as Flashgitz maintains this level of animation quality in the foreseeable future, I think Space King has the potential to grow into a successful multimedia franchise, with video games being an obvious product that could follow in the future.

Sydney Trip 2025 Loot

During my recent Sydney trip over past 10 Days,  I ended up getting some stuffs along the way as I make use of my time to explore Sydney's hobby scene,. From this trip, I got myself some Toys and Boardgames which surprisingly doesn't cost much despite Australian living cost are very high. Despite Singapore having a similar living cost with Australia, I really doubt I can get the same kind of deal over there. Because Australia being a Developed western nation do have an advantage for having a very cheap selections for their Non essential commodities with their power of leverage.

Small World Storage Solution

Small World is one of the more colorful Boardgame out there as it is a territorial control game jam packed with assortments of Races competing to be the dominant ones. With its popularity, Small World got plenty of Expansions and thus the original box will not able to contain all of the components once you starting to collect expansions.

Mage Knight Get!

Mage Knight is one of the boardgame that i had been aiming to add into my collection ever since i get into this hobby and at last i got my own copy. I generally collect either Sci-fi, Horror or Fantasy themed Boardgame in my collection and apparently Mage Knight is one of the best Fantasy themed out there especially for Solo game. Vlaada Chvatil is one of the most famous Boardgame designer out there and out of his creations i owned Space Alert as well despite havent got a chance to play it but at least have played Codenames. Its hard to find a free time to play since i work six days a week but will look for an opportunity to play one of these day.

Elder Sign Storage Solution

Fantasy Flight Games is one of the Boardgame Publisher who is notorious for chugging out Expansions after Expansions for their Base Game. This naturally makes the Original Boardgame box unable to contain all of the expansion components at some point and thus people their own storage solution for this issue and here is mine.

For my storage solution i use Plano Box to contain the tokens, Cloth Bags for Monster Tokens and ordered some custom made wooden boxes for the Cards. So far my current suitcase for the Elder Sign able to hold all of the expansions up to Omens of the Deep just fine but i will need to find another if new expansions coming out. Overall i am quite satisfied with the storage solution that i do for Elder Sign. I had one as well for Elder Sign but havent got any time to give the final touch up for it.

Some Boardgame Expansion Acquisition

I don't post much about boardgames in this blog but i have been dabbling in this hobby for 3 years already and it drains your wallet as good as collecting Japanese Toys. I like Horror themed Boardgame and Lovecraftian ones satisfied my need quite well. Ever since i played Arkham Horror, i become the closet fanboy of the subgenre. Fantasy Flight Games made some of the more popular and accessible Lovecraft themed Boardgame which i subscribe to Eldritch Horror for some heavy duty stuff and Elder Sign when i need a casual one.

FFG is quite notorious for chugging out expansion and i am among the helpless fans who keep buying the expansions even though the base game works well by itself. Thus recently i got myself the latest expansion for Eldritch Horror and Elder Sign which are Dreamlands and Omens of the Deep. So far i didn't have time to make full use of the Expansions for both games so far but i should have plenty of opportunity to use them this year especially on Halloween. Perhaps i could post some session report for both games one of these days.

Chaos in the Old World First Session

It has been more than Three years since i begin collecting Boardgames which by now rival my toy collection. Personally i find boardgames are one of the few things worth to collect from the west as each box directly represent an idea of the creator and usually it is a good one! I tend to play thematic games whether it is Euro or Ameritrash though recently i get to appreciate Eurogames better.
