Hi-Metal R L-Gaim Mk-I

 Just like other mecha anime, i am looking for a physical representation for L-Gaim after i finished watching the TV series. While L-Gaim is another mecha series that ends up to be a wasted potential at the hand of Tomino, i am quite sold by the concepts that Mamoru Nagano tried to sell. I guess after Bandai made series of Hi-Metal mechas for Sunrise 80s mecha series, L-Gaim is soon to follow after. With the prototype shown around end of 2019, Bandai had announced the product release for Hi-Metal L-Gaim. The product will be released for 18000 Yen scheduled for July 2020.

 Hi-Metal Lineup is the non Gundam equivalent for  Metal Robot Spirits, but this particular rendition of L-Gaim feels more like Metal Build because this one stands 22cm tall. While i don't think the diecast parts would be as much as Metal Build, i think it should satisfy the collectors at very least. L-Gaim as a mecha series was an interesting one because it had some attitude and tried to make something different among the peers of its time. L-Gaim at its time is the closest thing to mecha version of Star Wars, had it been made as an OVA in late 80s i think L-Gaim's potential would have been more fully realized. Over the time i think i end up preferred L-Gaim Mk I over Mk-II because it feels more balanced overall, considering the latter doesn't really feel as proper successor mecha. Even if L-Gaim Tv Series is a flop, the spiritual successor FSS put its design to good use as Engage SR-1 and Junchoon. I wonder which 80s Mecha series will follow next in the Hi-Metal Lineup

 Nailed down yet another Tomino's series and this one had more potential actually compared to other of his works. While this series still end up to be a wasted potential most likely due to Tomino's mishandling, L-Gaim managed to do one important thing; showcasing Mamoru Nagano's talent which in turn let him to create his Magnum Opus; Five Star Stories.

Jakarta Toys Fair 2017 Field Report

 Last weekend i happened to attend this Toy Event in Balai Kartini as i come to Jakarta last week for some errand. Jakarta Toy Fair is a yearly toy convention in Jakarta where the local hobby stores gather up and sell both Japanese and Western Toys. In terms of Display the convention got some nice stuffs considering companies like Lego and Bandai also participate the event. As for the shopping experience i find most of the stuffs sold in the event are rather pricey though there are some rare stuffs around if you are willing to pay for it. I am rather surprised that Bandai didn't raise a fuss at the event that there are vendors selling bootleg stuff. At the moment I find Jakarta Toy Fair still needs improvement to become a noteworthy event but i believe it will get better next time.

Just got my stuff yesterday from Amiami. As promised i get Soulgain and Rockman Zero since i am looking forward to build them from the beginning when they announced and i also managed to grab 4th volume of FSS reboot from HLJ. It is also unexpected for me to get Composite ver ka Exbein considering i don't really like this guys as it is just a poor replacement of Huckebein Mk III. However having the toy almost 50% off and preorder cd bonus makes this toy a get for me in the end. Unfortunately it is highly likely that i will be able to worki on these kit by the end of this year since i still got couple of backlogs to finish first(yet again).

1/144 Engage SR-3

The most recent Five Star Stories that Wave released and back then i was planning to get it as well. However i cam to realize that i won't be able to do a proper job of this kit if i don't have any Airbrush and thus decided not to get the kit afterall. Engage SR-3 is one of the Mortar Headd used by the infamous Trio Tempest who are 3 renowned female Headdliners who are/were affiliated with Trio de Colus and Engage SR-3 itself is the latest model which was built by Diamond Neutral. The kit had limited version release which i recalled that included extra speid. If Wave released Engage SR-2 in the future, then the Trio Tempest would be completed Probably i will do a mechatalk as well regarding the Trio tempest.

My recent loot for this month: part 1

This is some part of my recent haul since currently it is holiday time for me.  As promised i get couple of MGs as a part for addition of gundam material for this blog. I bought the Takemikazuchi, MG Ez-8 and FSS manga 3rd volume from HLJ while i got the Hyaku Shiki from Amiami since pretty much of HLJ's stockpile of MG running dry during this month and surprisingly i got the Hyaku Shiki 10 days after the notice which is surprisingly fast since my experience with Amiami with SAL package is that they tend to arrive longer than 3 weeks. I am preparing something special for the Takemikazuchi and Hyaku Shiki while probably EZ-8 going to be a straight build. In total there are 4 more other items left from my order to be arrived probably within this week.

Currently i got all 3 Reboot Manga and by far the third volume is the thickest one of out of three which is twice the thickness of the first volume. I didn't expect that Shizu, the fatima in the cover of third volume would look really asian. The third volume is thick since it contains the whole bang doll arc where it tells the story of Muse Van Reyback quest with his Bang Doll in defeating Ashura temple who bring terror in plain of Kastenpo. The next volume cover page will be Lachesis again which is surprising for me since i am expecting either Kyo or Atropos would be the one in the cover as they play significant role in the next arc. I am expecting the next volume won't be that thick since the next arc is too big to be contained in a single volume.

FSS Manga Reboot

Good News for FSS fans out there! Mamoru Nagano will resume his FSS Works after the long hiatus begin with the Reboot of the first 12 Manga Volumes which will be re-released in 7 books. The first book will be released On February. Once the all of the reboot finished, Nagano will continue to release the 13th volume. From the cover of the first reboot volume i would say Lachesis is really beautiful in the new Nagano's drawing and Amaterasu looks girlish as ever.

1/100 Bang Doll

This is my most favorite Mortar Headd Design in Five Star Stories. Bang Doll is one of the MH that has quite some reputation in Joker Galaxy and probably one of those MH that can fight with LED Mirage.  This is the flagship mortar Headd of Kubalkann and it earns its name Erupting Puppet due to its transformation process and there are only 7 or 8 models of this exist in the entire Galaxy.. The reputation of this MH is pretty famous since it defeat Vatshu the Black Knight and Ashura temple in the manga. The current Headdliner is Muse Van Reyback, Cardinal in training who will be really well known in the future. Bang Doll's main armament is pretty unique, a Speid(Physical Blade) which can be used as Spaad(Laser Blade) as well so it is a two in one sword.

So far the one that manufacture FSS kits are Wave and Volks only and this kit is made by Volks. The 1/100 kit are really huge since it is almost as big as a Perfect Grade. Most of these kits in this scale are made from Resin which require high modelling skill to handle the kit. Too bad mine is not high enough yet but someday i will get one of those. Hopefully Wave will release the 1/144 scale in the future
