Mechatalk Final Gear: Renata - Polar Night

Trying my best to uphold the promise to myself to keep making Final Gear Mechatalk Article until this game inevitably ends once the maintenance mode finished its run. This time the mechatalk post will talk about Renata one of the rarer SSR Shooter pilot who is a Top Tier for its class barring UR Contender. In terms of the design, Renata is pretty much what if Lappland decide to ditch her swords and pilot a mecha instead added with a healthy dose of Warcrimes.

Final Gear had its share of Nutcases as the mecha waifu pilots like the previously covered Paranoia Team. But Renata is probably belongs to the far end spectrum of the evil morality being an A-Class War Criminal who sheds many innocent bloods during her time with Kegha Army. Once served as Keghan Border Army commander, Renata commited many terror operations against Arita Army by killing family members of Aritan Soldiers under the operation called Polar Night. However due to the infamy of her atrocities, Keghan Army Commanders decided to strike down Renata and her Squads to clean their hands. This act of betrayal almost cost Renata's life but her strong will to survive lead her to live another day until she is imprisoned by Aritan Army in high security prison. Nevertheless the atrocities Renata commited in Polar Night operation took a toll on her psyche reducing her to Childlike state and she suffer bouts of madness from time to time.

In Final Gear, Renata is heavy shooter class piloting EX-A-III Polar Night, a ragtag mecha using bits of pieces from several faction army units befitting her themes as a Fugitive constantly on the run who will try Salvage any usable mech parts to fight another day. Usually Renata will fight from distance with her combi machine-gun but from time to time she will not hesitate to get close and personal hacking enemies with her chainsaw bayonet and finish with point blank energy blast.

For Renata's mechatalk post, considering her loose alignment with Kegha faction and she is pretty much a lone wolf character, I will just talk about the faction mecha grunts that her Polar Night is salvaged from. EX-A-III Polar Night Rifle weapons are built upon with parts from all 3 major faction grunt units notably Aritan Sniper Rifle as the Muzzle with Hexel's Leadrain Chainsaw bayonet but the rifle probably got some parts from Herald and Bandit series mecha too with Polar Night's armor parts painted in Bandit color scheme.

In Final Gear, Renata served as DPS unit just like the most of her Shooter class peers who will deal heavy amount of DPS as long as protected from melee units. She is one of the strongest Non UR DPS available to level up with respectable amount of DPS and can land some debuff with her skills making her good DPS anchor for PVE contents. However due to lack of power balancing in this game, Renata really fall short when compared to Top DPS like Ruby or Noctris and she doesn't have many utility that can put her on advantage in PVP fight as well as lack of ignore defense that will make her having a hard time against tanky defenders. Despite being overshadowed, Renata is still decent pick if you fight against pure SSR team instead of 3 URs which always occupy the top rank in PVP ladder fight.

Interestingly Renata served as the event boss for the current Global server event rerun though she doesn't really put good fight compared to Sariel Boss from the recent past event.

Among SSR units Renata had so much potential to be top tier units if not for lack of UR units balancing by the Dev though it doesn't matter much at this stage. Regardless of the meta, Renata's design had this alluring charm of psycho waifu if you need something different as part of addition to your Final Gear team. For the next Final Gear Mechatalk, I will be covering about Nia, Sniper unit from Hexel faction.
