Mechatalk Sakura Wars - Sakura Taisen 2: Kanzaki Sumire Route

As a part of Realm of Darkness Sakura Taisen 2 Project, I will be making articles covering all of the Teikoku Kagekidan 8 Heroines on weekly basis. I feel this is the least I could do with the legendary Sakura Taisen  before I inevitably started my final pilgrimage for this series with Sakura Taisen 4. 

And the 1st Heroine who become the benefactor of this Sakura Taisen 2 Article is obviously my personal favorite heroine from Teikoku Kagekidan who is no other than Teigeki Top Star; Kanzaki Sumire! This series of Sakura Taisen 2 Mechatalk Article will cover briefly the background of each Teikoku Kagekidan Main heroines, their most significant role in Sakura Taisen 2 Main story as well as their route story and lastly anything noteworthy side event featuring the heroine. Given my asset gathering project back then came to abrupt end, some of the heroines article will not be fully fleshed out as others but I will make the amend once I made it to Sakura Taisen 4. 

 Being the Scion of Kanzaki Zaibatsu, one of the major backer of Teikoku Kagekidan that supplies the Hardware Equipments including Koubu. Kanzaki Sumire is one of the most privileged member of the Elite anti-Demon Squad. Despite her well-bred status, Kanzaki Sumire does not rely on her privilege and do her best effort to be a valuable member for Teikoku Kagekidan becoming both talented in performing arts and combat wielding Naginata as her weapon of choice.

In Sakura Taisen series, Sumire is one of the three Yamato Nadeshiko of Ogami Kagekidan and in her case come with a touch of Nouveau Rich. Considering her status as Ojou-sama from a very influential Industrial group, Sumire might appear haughty and expecting the best out of other people. However deep down she is a very caring person toward Teikoku Kagekidan especially after sharing the same struggle against Kouma Threats during Sakura Taisen 1. Sumire used to bicker alot with Kanna but by the time of Sakura Taisen 2, they have become quite a steadfast friends.

 In Sakura Taisen 2, Sumire left Teikoku Kagekidan in the early chapters due to Family matters. During this moment Ogami notice that Sumire looks rather conflicted in her departure and Sumire even ask what Ogami feels about her. It was only by chapter 3 of Sakura Taisen 2 that Teikoku Kagekidan members realized that Sumire returns to Kanzaki estate to attend prospective arranged marriage meeting with another heir of major zaibatsu. Realizing that such outcome will mean that Sumire might have to leave Teikoku Kagekidan for good, Ogami and Kanna leading the rest of member to storm Kanzaki Estate to save Sumire.

Easily overpowering the bodyguards that are employed by the Kanzakis, Teikoku Kagekidan able to interrupt the engagement only to face Sumire's Grandfather who is the Patriarch of Kanzaki family. Being one of the most influential man in Japan, Sumire's Grandfather easily hold Ogami and Teikoku Kagekidan on their tracks with the threats of the Kanzaki Zaibatsu support termination for Teikoku Kagekidan should the latter wish to continue with their attempts. However when the situation at stalemate, One of the Black Demon Society general, Tsuchigumo came to crash into Kanzaki estate which forces the Teikoku Kagekidan to sortie with Sumire tagging along. Impressed with Sumire's determination and caramaderie Teikoku Kagekidan, Sumire's Grandfather called off the whole arranged marriage engagement for the time being after satisfied on how Sumire had developed as a person through her time with Teikoku Kagekidan.

 Should the player chose Sumire as their main heroine, Ogami will visit the Kanzaki estate once again after being invited by Sumire. In this visit, Sumire will treat Ogami with her own cooking which obviously ended disastrous given Sumire lack of experience in this aspect. In this visit, Ogami will also able to take a peek on Sumire's diary revealing Sumire's affection toward Ogami which significantly has increased since his daring rescue attempt for her from the arranged marriage.

 Outside her route event and main story, Sumire had a side story event of teaching Ogami how to brew some tea which I failed to get the end CG. Also during the Teikoku Kagekidan holiday trip, Sumire is the one who sneak to Ogami's room at night for some romantic moment which ended up thwarted by the rest of Teikoku Kagekidan member. Should Ogami accepted Sumire's invitation to play at the beach, the outing ended up in unitended wardrobe disaster for Sumire who obviously still not ready with her heart despite having affection toward Ogami.

As for Sumire's ending in Sakura Taisen 2 which you can check here. Sumire will have Ogami accompany her for a shopping trip which Ogami pretty much become an errand boy but at the end of the shopping spree, Ogami and Sumire will share an intimate moment. Not as intense as Sakura Taisen 1 but still a fitting one for one of the more popular heroine for Sakura Taisen. 

To be honest Sumire is probably one of the most affected Heroine from the Sakura Taisen 2 asset gathering project came into abrupt halt. Thus she will likely one of the character that I will give priority to finish her route in Sakura Taisen 4.
