I’ve decided to revisit my personal gateway into the Katamari series: Me & My Katamari on the PSP. Even though I only discovered it years after its original release, this was the game that pulled me headfirst into the wonderfully absurd rabbit hole that is Katamari. What started as casually rolling objects into a ball somehow turned into an unforgettable acid trip, one that still reminds many millennials of simpler, happier times.
Since Me & My Katamari was my first Katamari game back in the early 2010s, I’ll admit I’m biased toward it. Even so, I genuinely believe it ranks quite high on the Katamari totem pole. For me, it’s only surpassed by Katamari Forever and We Love Katamari. With over 20 stages, it delivers a full-fledged Katamari experience that works surprisingly well on a portable handheld. It’s certainly leagues ahead of the abomination known as Touch My Katamari.
Fueled by growing nostalgia, I’m seriously considering a full replay of Me & My Katamari once I finish my current run of We Love Katamari on the Switch.
