Final Fantasy Chocobo Mascot Coin Bank Review

Just a Chicken Mascot passing by

Three years ago when i was starting working in my current Toy Distributor Company, there is this particular coin bank product made by Square Enix that gave me an impression. And then early this year i got this one for a good bargain during my trip in Singapore. To be honest this one was rather an impulse purchase from me since i am not really into Final Fantasy series anymore but might as well made a review before i part with this adorable chicken.

Chocobo is one of the earliest iconic monster of Final Fantasy series dating back as far as Final Fantasy II. They are bipedal yellow bird creature that serve as reliable mount and even used as Cavalry unit in some FF setting. The Chocobo is popular enough that Squaresoft eventually starting churning spin off games in PS1 era starring the Yellow Bird as the main character. I only played the NDS Chocobo Fable game but that one is still really good game.

Taking after the adorable SD form, the Chocobo Coin Bank is the first FF Coin Bank series to be made by SquareEnix in recent years and this one is certainly one of the better Final Fantasy Collectibles. I recall that Thornberry and Cactuar also happen to have Coin Bank treatment, though i think Moogle had a good shot to join this lineup too

Up until now, i only have played the classic Final Fantasy series and never managed to sit down and play the modern FF titles for some reason with FF Tactics remain as my favorite. I really think Square Enix is at lost in handling Final Fantasy series after XII as they don't really seem to have proper vision for the IP other than trying to make the series to have the best graphic JRPG. I hope Square Enix could reverse the situation in their new attempt with FF XVI because the future for the series looks bleak that even FFVII won't be able to extend the lifespan of the series for long.
