Legend of Heroes Gagharv Mobile Global Server EOS announcement

Well, the inevitable fate for Gagharv Mobile has finally arrived. Yesterday Gagharv Mobile dev announced the End-of-Service notice for this game's global server after running for one year. Gagharv Mobile will officially close the Global server on September 24th 2025. After the closure, Gagharv Mobile will only focus on Korea and East Asia server and apparently Global server players have the option to migrate to Korea server with their existing account.

It is simply unfortunate for an adaptation of Falcom's classic JRPG gem unable to last more than one year and even finish the storyline of the complete trilogy. However the writings on the wall for Gagharv Mobile has been very apparent from the get-go. Firstly Gagharv Mobile does not have sufficient circumstances to make the old JRPG classics successful enough to be a mainstream success which is a main prerequisites for survivability in highly competitive gacha market. Then the dev team also not quite able to make proper use of their very limited resources highly indicating Scope issues which inevitably cause severe retention issues after the first three months in game.

I believe the Dev team for Gagharv Mobile truly do their utmost to bring quality content for Gagharv Mobile given their diligence in creating new Hero characters in L2D renditions in every 2-3 weeks pace that comes with their own combat kit and 2D sprite. Those productivity rates are no joke but the problem is channeling their resources to make sure the game attractive enough to afford longevity.

Personally I don't really mind the glaring flaws of Gagharv Mobile since I played the game to experience the wonder of Gagharv Trilogy worldbuilding once again which the game's director do pay attention for it. However for me the game do have some really bad flaws that contributes to the longevity issue.

One of the worst one is progression issues for SSR Heroes which require a Level cap unlock currency called Primal Ether. This resource is very scarce until the EOS announcement and makes typical player only able to max level 2 or 3 SSR hero every month. Not to mention the crazy statblock obstacle that the Dev puts on resource grind node which require crazy minmaxing typical of Korean RPG to have a shot at. I still remember my frustration to unlock last node for Exp Dungeon. These shortcomings definitely chase out casual players like crazy.

Despite the glaring flaws, I still admire Gagharv Mobile Director's resolve to bring Falcom's neglected JRPG gem back to life, albeit in somewhat less than perfect situation. The storyline of Gagharv trilogy remains very beautiful and Song of the Ocean chapter is well done despite translation issues. I came for reliving Tear of Vermilion story and stick around for Song of the Ocean. It is such a shame that Prophecy of Moonlight Witch is not properly concluded but it is not too much of a deal to me since in terms of storyline it is the closure of the trilogy that I can do without.

Given the uncertainty of the Dev's commitment to finish POTMW story content, I am not too sure that I want to migrate to KR server. Regardless I will make a proper homage for Gagharv Mobile by creating series of post to archive the better parts of this game. I will do at least character profiles for all characters in Gagharv Mobile and will try to find an opportunity to retell Song of the Ocean lore and storyline which is probably the most important part of Gagharv Trilogy in my opinion.

This is because to me, Gagharv Trilogy is more than a forgotten old school JRPG - it is the story of humanity, the story of a race that make mistakes time and time again, yet always hold the potential to become better. Embodied by a group of worthy individuals, spanning generations, doing their upmost despite their limitations to prevent the same tragedy that once befell their world due to hubris from once powerful ancient civilization. This is what the Legend of Heroes title encapsulate for me in Gagharv Trilogy
