Doing something different for this time's review! The Castlevania series — particularly the Igavania entries — left a lasting impression on me, filling my memories as a gamer during my teenage years. Because of that, I decided to pick up the Dominus Collector’s Edition, which is still reasonably priced when available.
While it's not as luxurious as Limited Run Games' Ultimate Edition, this version is more than enough to satiate the nostalgia. The name Dominus, meaning "master" in Latin, certainly fits the title of this collection — it’s truly the crown jewel of the Castlevania series under Koji Igarashi.
This version of Castlevania Dominus limited edition includes:
- Castlevania Dominus physical game cartridge
- Box Organizer
- 5-part Soundtrack CD
- Poster Maps
- Post cards
- Collectible Card (got Some&Mina for mine)
Among the games included in the Dominus collection, I did 100% runs on Dawn of Sorrow and Portrait of Ruin back then, and I wouldn’t mind doing another full completion run — especially for Portrait of Ruin. The only one I didn’t finish was Order of Ecclesia, even though I got pretty close. If I remember right, Dracula’s Castle was the final dungeon I had left to conquer.
I’ll definitely savor this moment with the Castlevania Dominus Collection after 15 years of separation — and in fact, I’m already diving back into Dawn of Sorrow.
The only other game I might consider getting this sort of elaborate collection for would probably be Chronicles of Mystara.
To close this post, here’s a look at the contents of the Castlevania Dominus Collection: Ultimate Edition. It’s certainly luxurious, but I still don't think it justifies the $200 price tag.
