SD Gundam just like many things are usually out of my strike zone due to my focus on 1/100 lineup but this new P-Bandai product do catch my attention. From SD Gundam series in 90s, Bandai released Superior Kaiser and God Kaiser set SD Gundam action figure. Scheduled for March 2026, SD Gundam Superior Kaiser & God Kaiser set will be sold for 22000 Yen.
When SD Gundam had transformation gimmick to transform into regular sized gundam, it certainly catch my attention and God Kaiser&Superior Kaiser seems to be the finest specimen of this genre. Finally I get to see the predecessor of Valkylander and Zeromaru from Build Diver which can trace their design to this classic 90 series.
So these SD Gundams capable of transforming into regular gundam by combining with two headed dragon unit called Kaiser Wyvern. From its depiction, it can be surmised that God Kaiser and Superior Kaiser are friendly rivals who are lead characters in their series. The transformation gimmick of the champion mecha of Ganso SD heavily remind me of Goldran and B-Daman Bakugaiden series, perhaps it is the response of Bandai with Takara's dominance in toy industry with Yuusha and B-Daman series.
If it is not P-Bandai item, I would have been likely interested to consider obtaining one due to its very interesting gimmick. Bandai probably did release this item to coincide with Takara re-release of Saint Blaster this year as a reminder of their rivalry back in 90s. Would pay a close attention for possible re-release of Superior/God Kaiser model kit.
