Figma 223 Archer Emiya Review

So as i pray, Unlimited Blade Works!

A long due one already since i planned to post the review early this year but i suppose upcoming Summer campaign do motivate me abit. At first i never had plan to get Emiya since i focus on characters that i had in FGO for Figma lineup which i didn't have him back then. However as i bought Figma Saber 2.0 after getting Artoria from single ticket pull, i thought might as well complete the original Fate Stay Night Knight Class servant. Got myself a used copy of Figma Emiya for reasonable price and it is certainly worth it to gather Saber, Lancer and Archer together.

Archer Emiya is one of the possible outcome for Emiya Shirou should he continuously pursue his ideal to be the Ally of Justice eventually becoming Heroic Spirit by forging pact with Alaya. However turns out it was not the outcome that future Emiya desired since he cannot save everyone this way. Instead Emiya's contract with Alaya forces him to contradict with his concept of Ally of Justice, as the Alaya's makes Emiya its enforcer to slay people that are considered to be threat to humanity, even if they are innocent. This makes Emiya's personality become jaded and disillusioned with the path he took. In Fate/StayNight Emiya is the Archer class servant summoned in 5th Holy Grail War by Tohsaka Rin. He plays major role in Unlimited Blade Works where he attempts killing his past self in order to undo his contract as Heroic Spirit. However in the end his past self beat some sense into him stating that he shouldn't regret his path it is a worthy one to him.

As for Fate/Extra and FGO timeline, Emiya serves his master faithfully because he doesn't need to deal with his past self. His personality is still cynical but warms up eventually treating the master like younger sibling especially in FGO. I personally think Emiya would enjoy the most being Ritsuka's servant since he is given the opportunity to save humanity in the way he desired, something that was unreachable in his life.

TRACE ON!

Emiya's main weapon is pair of twin blades called Kanshou and Bakuya which is a peculiar choice for range oriented Servant of Archer Class. Regardless he wields his twin blades masterfully which the weapons offer great versatility both in close or ranged fight

While Emiya uses pair of blades as his mainstay weapon, he do excel long range combat as his servant class intended. In 5th Holy Grail war while he can't match with some servants, Emiya actually able to lead Rin to win the Grail if he chose to pick off the master of the stronger servants should he be given opportunity. His preferred choice of projectile is the modified version of Caladbolg which is capable of yielding some powerful explosion that will hurt most servants seriously.

I AM THE BONE OF MY SWORD

SO AS I PRAY, UNLIMITED BLADE WORKS

The trump card of Archer Emiya is something originated from his life as Magus. Emiya doesn't have any real Noble Phantasm that belongs to him however he has something that is on par with it, a Reality Marble named Unlimited Blade Works. With the activation of his chant, Emiya able to temporarily distort the terrain into barren lands filled with countless high quality blades for his use or even replicate weapons of other servants. This particular Reality Marble is one of the perfect counter for Gilgamesh Gate of Babylon which will usually turn most servants into swiss cheese. Emiya could actually even replicate something similar to Sword of Promised Victory Excalibur, which is suicidal in normal circumstances but quite doable in Moon Cell from Extra-verse. In Extella, Emiya could spam the excalibur with impunity but i am still curious how he pull it off in CCC.

The Three Knight servant swapping weapons!

Out of the box, Figma Emiya doesn't offer that much but it will worth it if you intend to collect him as part of a set. My biggest gripe with Figma 223 is the difficulty of equipping the Longbow on the figma due to a design problem. I would recommend getting Saber 2.0 at least to complement Emiya's arsenal with Caliburn and Excalibur. At any rate i should put the review for Figma Lancer Cu eventually but i guess some summer related material will be coming up first.

  1. These are the 3 characters I like most in Fate series and thumbs up 👍🏻. My Figma collection is kind of small having none of these. I go for those non posable PVC statue.

    1. These trios will always be the classic, I choose Figmas as my go to lineup for FGO because i feel it is the best option for the series.
