One of the recent Gundam Candy Toys that caught my attention is the new Gundam Head Collection, which seems to harken back to the older Gundam gashapon lineups. Bandai recently revealed this new lineup, which literally offers Gundam head dioramas. The first volume features Unicorn and Strike Freedom Gundam variants and is scheduled for release in June 2026. The box version of the Gundam Head Collection will be sold for 9,000 Yen.
This collection appears to be the box version of premium Gundam capsule toys, with a suggested retail price of 1,500 Yen per Candy Toy in a box of six. One of the key selling points is the secret variant, which comes with an LED base stand. This secret version can be combined with other Gundam head variants to create a Light-Up display.
Personally, I’m not particularly interested in this lineup. It doesn’t seem to offer any substantial improvement over the Exceed Model so far, yet costs three times as much. However, I’ll keep an eye on future volumes. Bandai faces a tough challenge with its Candy Toys products, as the market is increasingly dominated by Chinese blind box collectibles.
