Gundam G-Frame 07 Review

The turn for the big guys!

Apart from the SD variant of Gundam Candy Toys, I do collect the Gundam G-Frame lineup which i feel still try to find its place among its peers. While i am not that dedicated to fully collect this lineup compared to Ensemble, I do have 3 Full Volumes under my collection. The reason i don't make a review of Gundam G-Frame up until now because i thought i would make a review once i repaint them. However as I reached the 7th volume, I realize it would be way too long to reach that point and might as well give it an opportunity to showcase its merit before i procrastinate any longer.

Gundam G-Frame is yet another 500 Yen Variant of Bandai Candy Toys for Gundam series featuring 12 cm tall Gundam Mobile suits. With its size, probably the lineup served as the successor of now defunct Gundam Universal Unit. However in terms of price tag G-Frame is virtually 1000 Yen Candy Toys since each variant come in two separate parts Armor & Frame. While the Armor part would serve just fine as standalone Collectible, The frame would not make without the armor part. So it feels the majority of the G-Frame value worth lies in Armor part and i guess the Candy Toys division haven't nailed the soft spot for this lineup yet. Ensemble still worth it as 800 Yen variant Candy Toys, but the same thing cannot be said with G-Frame since you had several choices for High Grade Gunpla already.

Due to the higher entry cost barrier, it might make it difficult for G-Frame to attract potential collectors but there are still some appeal that the lineup has. For Gunpla up until now i only collect 1/100 scale but due to preoccupation with juggling between life and work my backlog keep piling up. So when i need a bite sized Gunpla Fix, G-Frame filled the void. While my intention to repaint them wont be realized anytime soon, at very least this lineup served as decent substitutes for the Mobile Suits that i aimed for getting the MG originally. Even if the original paint job of G-Frame is sub par, it will still look superb once a repaint job is given.

For the Gundam G-Frame 7 the roster features Full Armor Gundam, Gouf Custom and RX-78-4 Gundam. Surprisingly Gouf Custom is my favorite in this volume because it really looks so Gallant despite i am not a big fan of Zeon MS. For the Gundam G-Frame Review this time, I only take shots with the non-movable frame since i will reserve the photoshot for the Dynamic once I repainted my G-Frame Collection

Comparison of RX-78-4 and RX-78-5 side to side
While Rx-78-4 is my main reason to get G-Frame 7, turns out this guy is the most underwhelming variant from this edition due to lackluster accessory. For some reason Bandai doesn't give the full equipment for the twin RX-78 gundam even though i think they can still afford the release.

Doing review for Gundam G-Frame 7 gave me an opportunity to do some coverage for my collection from previous G-Frame Edition. I don't know exactly when i will be doing another photoshot for my G-Frame collection but i want to show the potential set collection value of this lineup. You can actually complete the One Year War RX-78 Gundam series in G-Frame complete from RX-78-1 to RX-78-6. The only issue is that RX-78-3 belongs to P-Bandai Set while RX-78-6 Mudrock belongs to G-Frame 02 which has the worst lineup in my opinion.

Overall Gundam G-Frame 07 is one of the better edition in the series because it features good choices of roster without much forced marketing Gundam Unicorn bullshit and the Zeon MS is actually good for this edition. I don't think this will be the last time i review Gundam G-Frame since i still have expectation with this lineup even if it is not going too well for them. I think this lineup better suited to feature MSV variant Mobile Suits and i wouldn't mind MS from Stardust Memories if this series could survive that long too.
