Warhammer 40k Tacticus

Another Gacha game that I currently play and this one rather special because it is from 40K series!  Tacticus is a Strategy RPG 40k Gacha Game which has been released since August 2022 and still going strong with the support of the faithful 40k Fanbase. Tacticus caught my attention since mid of this year with the introduction of new Tau Units, but it was not until around September that I started to pick up this game as I need something to fill in for my Xiaomi tablet.

It took me around 3 months to be able to give my final conclusion for Tacticus, but overall I can enjoy what this game able to provide despite some glaring flaw. When it comes to Gameplay, Tacticus is a hex-based turn based strategy game which pits your Squads of Elite Heroes characters from 40k series against assortment of enemies. Split into 3 Factions; Imperium, Xenos and Chaos which you got to play a wide spectrum of 40k Elite units including some famous named characters such as Abaddon or Saint Celestine.

Among Dozens of Gacha Game that I have played, Tacticus probably have one of the more expensive monetizing option and less generous Gacha options. This is a given considering the size of 40k IPs and Games Workshop are quite demanding at times. It will literally take months to save up for a single multi-roll once the Gacha Honeymoon phase is over because the crystal currency is very scarce unless you go the Whale route and the Monthly pass will even only give 2/3rd of the required currency for a single Multi-roll. This game allows players to grind for Heroes fragments including the highest rarity, but good luck with that when your existing units also keep needing upgrade. Tacticus is definitely one of the less friendly Gacha for F2P players but once you stick around long enough, this game can be fun enough when the investments on your core units do pay off.

Despite being one of the higher maintenance Gacha game if you wish to whale and access the bulk of the contents early, Tacticus do have the breadth and the depth to survive long term. With this game have what to offer on the table, Tacticus able to provide a good bite-sized experience and decent gateway for 40k series which is good enough for a mobile game. Seriously this is noteworthy because 40k Video games are not well known for its longevity as Games Workshop lent the IP to many Game devs but only a handful that can stay relevant for a long time. I do have a soft spot for good 40k Game on mobile since I was introduced with 40k series from Nokia Ngage game. I do wish Tacticus will survive long enough grow into something bigger because they have the potential to be at the top which they can rightfully claim as long as the game is properly managed. Maybe in near future I may consider to make a Beginner unit guide as well when there is an opportunity.
