Mechatalk Final Gear: Akarna Team Special

Perhaps this will be the last of Final Gear Special Edition mechatalk, but this one will still come with another extra serving of Oomph! Featuring the only playable Giant Mech in Final Gear, The 23rd Final Gear Mechatalk will be dedicated for Arita's Special Force, the Akarna Team with their Invincible Combiner Giant Mecha!

Back then, Flashwing probably realize that it won't be a complete Mecha experience without a Combiner Super Robot thus Final Gear have its equivalent of SRX! Consisted of 4 Combiner Mech Units complete with Waifu Pilots in Leotard uniforms. This Akarna combiner mech actually look really cool in terms of design and could have been a saving grace for Final Gear, but alas its fate was not meant to be just like many things in this game. While it took me 2 years, nearing the lifetime of Final Gear. I am glad that I still had time to dedicate an article for this cool mecha and did it the right way too.

Serving directly under Arita's military leader, Morgan Herrin. Akarna is an Elite Squad of 4 female  beauties with different walk of life and wide range of personality. Lead by Leangle, the Akarna team members consist of Blade, Chalice and Garren whom each perform their task competently despite their quirks. Since the Akarna Team are specifically reserved for special operations, they rarely engaged in combat thus spent most of their time training in order to maintain peak performance. However whenever the Akarna team is deployed, their opponents will expect to have a really bad time with the amount of maximum firepower this Squad of Four Beauties bring into the fray with their Prototype Elite Mech units that is capable to combine into Giant Robots! Designed by the genius mayor Aita and manufactured by Decory Industry, Akarna Team Giant Mecha is certainly a sight to behold!

Akarna Team is actually one of the earlier units that served as the Centerpiece for Eve of National War game mode and later featured as one of the available Powerup Card deck for the Battleships in Total War mode.

While some of the 4 Members are really good units individually, Akarna selling point is the cool Combiner Robot gimmick which at the time was only usable in the Eve of National War stages before eventually made available from the rest of the gaming mode in Final Gear.

However just like many things in Final Gear, Akarna Team units were poorly handled since the beginning of Final Gear with absurdly overpriced mech pack during their debut until the overwhelming scarcity of Leangle in Global Server. Ideally Final Gear could have utilised Akarna Team as the meaty bait to attract new players to play this game by making their units available through grinding. But even for this very simple thing, Flashwing failed on Final Gear really badly. While you can obtain 3 of 4 Akarna Units along with the Pilot in Eve of National War mode, The Global server never make Leangle Unit available for exchange and throughout Final Gear lifecycle only made Leangle's banner available TWICE over the span of 2 years! Seriously It was not until the Final Patch of Final Gear in November that I was able get to try Leangle's Unit and see the Akarna Combiner mecha for what its worth.

Seriously Final Gear could have done plenty of things with Akarna Team but Flashwing just lacks the proper marketing team combined with bad management just doomed the potential that this Special Team unit had. I would have imagined Kegha and Hexel could come with their own Combiner Mecha just to equalize the playground with this Arita's Special unit.

Moving on the Individual Profile of Akarna Team members, starting with Leangle. Serving directly under Morgan as the Leader of Branch 0 Unit, Akarna. Leangle is level-headed Soldier whose professionality earned her respect in the Arita Military thus making her worthy to be the leader of Akarna Squad. Leangle's primary concern as the Squad Leader is to ensure her team members to get along especially with Blade's and Garren's bickering at each other. During her free time, Leangle spent mostly on physical exercise in the gym.

In Final Gear, Leangle is the only natural SSR unit of the Akarna team serving as Defender Class piloting Scepter Knight unit which made up the bulk of Combiner Unit's Torso. In the battlefield, Leangle serve as reliable bulwark to defend her teammates granting protections with her Energy Shields

One of the most Combat Capable member of Akarna Team, Blade's reserved and disdain for weak personality is often mistaken for arrogance which made her isolated in Arita Military before she joined Akarna Team. Being the de facto Vice Captain of the Squad, Blade assisted Leangle in the combat faithfully and entrusted to handle the movement control of the Akarna Combiner mecha. Beneath her cold demeanor, This oriental beauty is often seen taking care of her pet dogs favoring Golden retriever breed.

In Final Gear, Blade is a Light SR Striker unit piloting Chalice Knight which made up for the Leg parts in the combiner form. In the battlefield armed with Energy Shortblade, Blade strikes with deadly precision and agility who sometimes throw down some giant shuriken on enemies herself hinting her Ninja clan background.

Third member of Akarna and the smartest one, Chalice served as the Brain for the team devising the optimal combat plans for the team. Despite her intellect, Chalice can be unpreditctable at times, being airheaded and even seen to trashtalk much to Leangle's confusion. But despite her dorky act, Chalice is a talented singer who sometimes seen as the lead vocalist for a particular popular metal band in Arita.

In battlefield, Chalice starts as R rarity Demolisher pilot with Tank mech called Blade Knight as her unit. While the unit naming maybe rather confusing it was the straight translation of the CN server unit name which hint close tandem support with Blade in the battle. In the combiner mode, Chalice's unit served as part of arm that enables the Giant Robot shoots out energy cannon from the palm.

Being the most carefree of the Akarna team member, Garren is the prankster of her group to liven things up. Considering being the complete opposite in terms of personality, Garren is often seen to be at odds with Blade and often seen bickering with each other. Among the interactions of Akarna team member, Garren is the one seen to be the most attention seeking toward captain and even asked to accompany for her shopping. Nevertheless when things required utmost attention, Garren will still perform her duty profesionally.

In Final Gear, Garren is SR heavy shooter pilot with Estelle Knight unit wielding Gatling Gun as the main weapon but she also carry High fire-rate cannon if situation requires it. Along with Chalice, Garren's unit form the arm parts in the combiner form which pops out Shoulder mounted gun to thwart against smaller threats.

Being slightly more special SR team, Akarna team actually got some gorgeous selection of skins complete with Summer skins for all of the team members with Blade being one of the better looking one. Leangle's Christmas skin is probably one of the contender for the sexiest skin in Final Gear with generous fanservice of Underboob with borderline Nipslip that is only available outside CN server.

However this is yet another things that are ruined in Global server yet again as nobody will buy the Summer Skin which was only available once with Chalice and Garren even never got theirs.

Akarna Team is probably some of the best units available during in its introduction in the early days of Final Gear, at least until UR Units started being implemented. Among these 4 Pilots, Leangle and Blade still pull their weight quite well until now with only Garren ended being the worst one while Chalice can still have some role to serve. Seriously nothing can go wrong if you ever invest on Leangle.

Leangle hands down was the best Defender unit back then and still the best non UR until now being very tanky and even can heal team members with her kit. She is probably one of the few Units that Ruby will take some time to take down which is why many PVP team included her and she is even more reliable than Coreleah or Murasaki in this department. Lastly Leangle is the first unit in Final Gear that can reach 1 million BP which is why the Top ranker tend to have her in the Roster.

Blade was one the best striker unit ingame with her simple yet effective kit that can dish out tons of damage. If fully kitted properly she will probably able to reach 50 million DPS easily which some units require UR Upgrade to reach that level. Blade can still easily ruin any Non UR Pilots on any day but UR Taysia will probably easily defeat her.

Chalice is a support type Demolisher that had rather pathetic DPS but her Crit and Health Buff is quite handy if you have extra slot in your party team. If you are looking for BP Statblock to compete in Final Gear Leaderboard, Chalice can probably reach 500k if she is upgraded to SSR and kitted with proper substats.

As for Garren, I don't have much things to say about her apart from being the weakest unit due to her outdated stats modifier. She will fulfill her role as SR Shooter just fine but she will be nothing more than that and newer Shooter class like Ariel will probably outclass her.

The main reason I bother to make a special article for Akarna Team instead of splitting it into multiple parts is no other than the Giant Robot. It is truly cool giant mech to look at but it forever stays as a gimmick. Considering even fully upgraded team of Akarna will struggle to complete Normal Difficulty Conflict Zone due to the outdated Damage Modifier that the Combiner mech had. Before Final Gear ended its update, there were rumor that the Akarna Team will have UR Upgrade at some point but the plan never came into fruition as the game eventually succumb after series of mismanagement.

Overall I am very glad that I am able to finish this article for one of the more special Mecha team in Final Gear. While I could have released the Akarna Article last month, I am happy that I could reserve the article until the team members almost their full potential as I spent over period of a month to save up Equipment upgrade resources for Leangle and Garren, Of all Akarna Team member, Blade is easily my favorite as she served me faithfully for a long period of time already and might have bought her Summer Skin if it is still available. In any case I hope Akarna team will have another chance to shine once again if Final Gear ever got revived.

While the Special Edition of Final Gear mechatalk ended with Akarna, the show will still go on until Final Gear ended its service as I planned to cover the Arita Leader, Morgan Herrin herself for Next week's mechatalk. I might also starting to compile Final Gear Unique mecha compendium as side project while the game is still alive.
