Mechatalk Final Gear: Bernadette - Cerberus

 41st Final Gear Mechatalk is here! and one more to go before the series conclude its run! As of now, Final Gear CN server has officially ended its service and Global will follow suit in a week or so. Even if the Global server ends prematurely than what the dev promised, the last article for the Final Gear Mechatalk series will still conclude as planned and it will be a UR unit. As for the 41st Final Gear Mechatalk, I have prepared yet another special character even if she is not UR but probably one of the Dev's favorite given her special treatment. It is no other than the Guardian Knight of the Devil's Order Bernadette! One would imagine what kind of favor she will be given had Final Gear able to flourish.

 Growing up as an Orphan in Kegha under the care of Kegha's Army General, Eloise. Bernadette held her true allegiance toward her benefactor even if she had grown up to be a splendid knight and even surpass Eloise when it comes to martial prowess. Yet Bernadette still willing to serve as Eloise right hand finding it as her true calling. Even so Bernadette had to part  with Eloise and served in a dangerous bodyguard duty on the fringe of Kegha Region due to machinations of corrupt nobles who become a natural enemy for Eloise due to the latter's virtue and excellence despite having become a slave at some point.

In Final Gear, Bernadette is an SSR Demolisher Class who was only obtainable as in-app purchase bonus and pilots a mysterious unit called Cerberus which literally resemble the infamous watchdog of hell that appears belong to an Ancient technology. Whatever mysteries tied to Bernadette's ancient bloodline we will never know anymore as Final Gear decide to conclude its run.

 Due to her closeness toward Eloise, Bernadette was reassigned to a deadly job as a Bodyguard who watch over the secret laboratory of Devil's Order, a secretive group of Kegha Scholars that researched the mystery behind the Corbero's Meteorite. However this bodyguard duty is a deadly one as the secret lab is close the proximity of the Meteorite which have adverse effect on surrounding living creatures turning them into caricature undead horror creature which even have some Keghan Knights become the victim of it. However Bernadette doesn't seem to be affected by the hazardous condition probably due to her ancient bloodline.

At some point in the main storyline, Evelynn and Blackark fought Bernadette as they delve into the regions of Kegha close to the Corbero site which explain why she served one of the weekly Boss and players can find her served as midboss on regions bordering Kegha. Had Final Gear Story continued any further, Bernadette will probably join Blackark if the corrupt nobles trying to pull some conspiracy and attempt to assassinate Eloise.

 What makes Bernadette stand apart from other waifu characters in Final Gear is that she held the title of having the highest count of Unique Skins surpassing even the main heroine Evelynn herself. Bernadette even got an exclusive Cerberus unit skin which is from her China Dress skin that is obtainable from the highest top up amount bonus which was 160 USD for Global server. This implies that Bernadette happen to be one of the main dev team personal favorite waifu considering she is voiced by Rina Satou and this is one of the few waifu characters that is not ruined by those Skadi Bugcat cultists.

 In terms of unit design, Bernadette is a rather unique Demolisher Unit as she doesn't have ammo restriction yet fight on close range in exchange. She is one of the strongest obtainable unit in Final Gear's early day that can deal extra damage on Debuffed units, but ends up mediocre due to no update given to her despite having many skin. Yet another candidate to get UR Upgrade if the Dev had paid more attention to Kegha faction.

 While I thought Taysia probably could have been the outright Winner when it comes to the best Oath Skin+Background combination, It turns out is Bernadette who might be the number 1 contender. Easily overlooked due to no UR upgrade, Bernadette's Oath Skin easily proves the favor given to her by the Final Gear Dev.

 Overall another rather straightforward chapter but a worthy bonus candidate for Final Gear Mechatalk Article as I could have ended the series on Ariel. Could have given more attention to Bernadette if Final Gear ever given any upgrade for her but it is not the fate meant to be with this game. Even if Final Gear Mechatalk ended with 42nd character, there will be some more bonus articles to come for another week or two as the proper send off for this beloved Mecha game that unable to reach its potential.
