Mechatalk Final Gear: Favia - Dark Star

Time to put some Combo breaker for Chinese Hobby products and it is time for Final Gear 38th Mechatalk! Final Gear Global got about one month left before its closure and until then this series will keep going because I have already planned out the candidates for the remainder of this game's lifespan. Before Final Gear global server ends as scheduled, I can still churn out around 4 Final Gear Mechatalk articles and 2 of them will be in the full glory of their UR Form at least. But in the meantime we will have Favia, Hexel's Darkstar Witch Matriarch fill in the spotlight!

 Growing up as an orphan in Kegha, Favia found herself joining Kegha's Imperial assassins corps which are quite common occurrence in the Empire. Surviving through the brutal training, Favia found herself excel quite well in the clandestine works, being content to do Empire's dirty works by cutting down any targets with her massive two handed sword. However given the sinister nature of her line of work having to witness plenty of her compatriots died a worthless death for thankless duty, being part of Kegha Imperial Asssasin eventually take a toll on Favia given her tender age. It was not until Steel Witch Noctris herself arrived and saved Favia from her lowest moment. Finding a new purpose, Favia become one of  Loyal retainers of Noctris and given the position as one of the Matriarch Witch with Darkstar Witch as her title, wielding her blade to do any Clandestine works that Noctris wishes for.

In Final Gear Favia is a SSR Striker class unit and one of the earliest one, She pilots a heavy striker mech unit called Darkstar which is yet another masterpiece of Sumora from Designer Family. This particular unit wields a massive gigantic great sword just like Favia herself tearing anything foolish to stand its way.

Being a part of Kegha Imperial Assasins, Favia used to carry out any dirty jobs that Kegha Imperial Family and Powerful Nobles wishes for. But upon witnessing the ugly nature of the empire and sided with Noctris. Favia devote herself to uncover the sinister secrets that Kegha Empire hidden and even at some point attempt on taking Queen Lilian's life. 

Given her design with massive Dragonslayer Sword which make Favia one of the many female clone of Guts, Favia was meant to be something great in Final Gear as the Devs are very generous in making assets for her, having some of the best looking paid skin. However Favia is the prime example of Final Gear failings being incompetent at managing their resources even though Favia would be easily rise to populariy if handled properly. For starters I don't think Favia ever recruitable from the regular banner along with her mech, even if she had one it was only once. Then despite Favia supposed to be the pivotal character for Final Gear earlier period, getting her mech is not exactly a straightforward process and her Free unit shown up to late in the update as most players have lost interest by this point.

 For one of the earlier SSR units, Favia actually hit quite hard for a low BP unit who can reach 5 million DPS with relatively minimal upgrade. It was quite something because even Evelyn only deal pitiful 2 Million DPS despite having SSR Upgrade unit. This is probably because Favia have some active debuff skill that cause some Damage over Time debuff upon the target. One would wonder how far Favia can reach if she get Full Upgrade to SSR Gear and Lv 10 Talent

 Given her prominent role, Favia eventually got her UR Upgrade which massively improve her Debuff DoT damage capability. Unfortunately I have committed my last SSR UR Upgrade to someone else. If not, Favia would have been the next SSR UR Upgrade primary candidate. Would like to see if Favia UR could surpass either Taysia or Aya

Lackluster Voicelines aside, Favia do have some solid Oath lines and skin. Favia is pretty much the Final Gear Z23 as she wears black wedding dress in her oath scene which contrasts quite well with her benefactor, Noctris. While I don't have resources to raise Favia to her full potential at very least I will give her Oath Skin and Mechatalk article slot.

Interestingly Favia and Noctris are voiced by same seiyuu, Asami Seto who is yet another veteran in the business. This particular Seiyuu have voiced plenty of main heroine characters and you would be surprised of this seiyuu Voice range if you ever played other Gacha games as for instance Ceobe and Sara Kujou is world apart. It seems that Final Gear didn't pay much for the Favia role as the voice quality is miles apart compared to Noctris. Favia is yet another one of the many failures of Final Gear but at very least she do deserve the Final Gear Mechatalk spot.
