Metal Build Hardcore Mecha 1/100 MFX-02T Thunderbolt Review
One last Review to wrap up 2019!
2019 has been yet another fruitful year for me and Realm of Darkness, with its own share ups and downs. Before they year turns to 2020, might as well conclude this year with a bang and i choose doing review for Metal Build Thunderbolt. Bandai's Metal Build are very popular lineup for Rich Collectors which is why make Chinese third party scrambled to get their slice of the pie. Out of those third party Metal Builds, the Thunderbolt from Hardcore Mecha piqued my interest and i took no time to hesitate when the Preorders were popping out. When you think of Third Party product, the impression would be a sloppy quality, but Thunderbolt begs to differ.
Thunderbolt is a Lead Mecha from a Chinese made Mecha Game called Hardcore Mecha. It is not the most original Mecha Design but it is a good one nonetheless as it combines several aspects from some of the popular Mechas out there. From Thunderbolt Mecha Design you can trace its designs influence from Arbalest, Alexander, Red Five, Avalanche Exia and Astray Red Frame, or at least that what i see. Since i didn't play the game, my knowledge about this fellow is rather limited.
I remembered the game was made by a Chinese Dev called Rocketpunch Game and it took more than 4 years to be released. Despite having a praiseworthy aim, I think the dev went slightly too ambitious for their first game which is why the game does not enter with a bang. So far the game is available for PS4 and Steam, but one could hope for Switch port someday.
Being the lead Mecha, Thunderbolt have plenty of Arsenal in its disposal but it appears the Metal Build emphasize on Close Combat loadout. This my first time handling Metal Build, so i guess i can't risk pulling some of the more Dynamic Pose for Thunderbolt since the Joints are quite stiff for a Toy. Nevertheless the weight of a Metal Build do feel different from your typical Robot Action figure
Hardcore Mecha is a love letter of a mecha fan to the mecha series and from what i see, it is rather unfortunate that the series doesn't get the attention it deserved. I think could have done more for this Metal Build but probably i will wait when i get my hand on this game which hopefully gets a Switch Port. I do hope Rocketpunch Games will make another attempt to make some good mecha game in the future.

I wanted to get this at some point but didn’t due budget constraints as budget set for other toy purchases. The design is really cool and has strong affiliation to SRW mecha design...
ReplyDeleteThis MB is a good value for money as far as 3rd Party work goes. No Doubt Thunderbolt is the Chinese mecha fan love letter to SRW and Mecha series overall
