Kotobukiya’s Megalomaria model kit lineup returns with another strong waifu entry! This hybrid android-human model kit now embraces a more waifu-inspired design with Maria Kagaribi. The katana-wielding, long-haired waifu in a military uniform is a classic, popular combination. Scheduled for a July 2026 release, the Megalomaria Maria Kagaribi kit will retail for 7,800 Yen.
Historically, Megalomaria kits have leaned more toward the robotic side, with their slim, mechanical waist frames. However, Kotobukiya has made Maria Kagaribi more waifulike, giving her a fuller, more humanized silhouette. Part of this effect may come from the clothing design, which helps obscure the usual skeletal, mechanical lines of the Megalomaria frame.
What really stands out with Maria Kagaribi is her overall aesthetic appeal. The sculptor captures a vibe reminiscent of Kaguya from Kaguya-sama: Love is War, Scathach, and Fujimiya Tsukumo from the Fate series — a blend of distant aloofness and undeniable combat capability. On her black school uniform variant, the combination of elegance and deadliness is particularly striking.
I’m confident that Kotobukiya will continue this trend, releasing future entries with the same strong waifu qualities exemplified by Maria Kagaribi.
