Super Robot Wars Super Minipla Hyperion

Bandai has dropped yet another heavyweight from the SRW series. Following SRX and Astranagant, the next big-ticket mecha to join the Super Minipla lineup is none other than Hyperion. As expected from a P-Bandai release and given its sheer size, this is definitely going to be a wallet-breaker. At 27,200 yen with a scheduled release in November 2026, this kit is clearly aimed at dedicated SRW fans who are willing to go all in.

While Kotobukiya previously released Altalion, they never followed up with Vegalion, leaving that dream incomplete. Now, Bandai steps in to finally bring the combined form to life. Hyperion itself feels like a classic SRW-style fusion—reminiscent of Gunbuster, with a touch of Macross flair and even a hint of Stargazer Gundam in its design DNA.

In the lore, Hyperion is an experimental unit known for its high mobility developed under Project Terrestrial Dream (Project TD), a visionary initiative led by Professor Filio. His goal was nothing short of enabling humanity to travel far beyond the stars. The main pilot, Ibis Douglas, one of the selectable protagonists in SRW Alpha 2 undergoes a compelling character arc. Her journey of overcoming trauma and carrying on the dream of someone dear to her adds emotional weight to Hyperion’s presence.

As a kit, SMP Hyperion does an impressive job translating this unique, hybrid design into a physical form. For fans of Ibis or the Project TD storyline, this is a must-have. Given how niche the unit is, there’s no telling when or if we’ll see another rendition of Hyperion anytime soon.
