The ultimate Arm-Slave from Full Metal Panic! returns through a collaboration between Chinese model kit maker Orange Cat and Wave. This time, they are delivering a luxurious 1/35 scale Laevatein model kit that blends the engineering of a Perfect Grade kit with the premium feel of a Metal Build die-cast figure. Scheduled for release in Q3 2026, the Orange Cat 1/35 Laevatein will be sold for 458 RMB.
This has to be one of the finest products Orange Cat has produced so far, serving as a testament to how far the Chinese hobby industry has evolved. The company is now capable of creating products that can stand toe-to-toe with Japanese Perfect Grade kits, especially in terms of value for money. Since the kit inherits traits from both Metal Build and PG-style engineering, it features a die-cast internal frame alongside an impressive amount of accessories, including a full weapon loadout and an elaborate display base to house them all.
Considering the Orange Cat Laevatein is produced in a PG-style scale, this release is not exactly on my radar. That said, I also would not mind seeing another Chinese interpretation in the classic 1/48 scale. The biggest obstacle, however, would likely be the licensing cost from Kadokawa.
