Ichiban Kuji 1/8 Saber Alter Dress Version Review
The Ice Queen shows off her feminine charm
I have gotten this Particular Salter figure early this year which is the same time with the Ichiban Kuji Musashi. This version of Saber Alter ichiban kuji prize figure was released as a part of Heaven's Feel Part 2 Movie campaign which i jumped the ship because she wears her 3rd Ascension dress in this version. It took me half a year to get motivated making a review for this figure, which is partly due to my recent summon for Saber Alter using the Anniversary Summon ticket.
Saber Alter was always somewhat popular character back in Fate/Stay Night era, but i think Fate/Grand Order provides a chance for Salter to outshine her regular counterpart. In FGO Saber Alter remains her ruthless self but shows her softer side as you bonds up which is quite a Gap Moe. It is also easier for Players to claim Salter as guilt-free waifu considering the vanilla version of Saber kinda had Shirou as her official partner already which makes it hard for self insert. Since Saber Alter is more waifuable than her regular self, there will be more for Salter Figurines getting released and this year had been quite generous.
Personally i like Saber Alter's dress because she manage to exude her feminine charm brilliantly. Beneath an icy expression of a merciless killing machine, still lies the heart of a pure maiden. For a Salter Fan, getting to see her dere side would be a bliss which is why her character sells quite well among Fate series characters.
This is pretty much the reason i choose this version over the 1/7 Saber Alter which i had sold a while ago, and to be honest it was actually still better than this version. For about the same price with the Ichiban Kuji 1/7 Saber Alter, this figure is only 1/8 Scale which doesn't come with Excalibur Morgan and sculpt quality is actually worse than her 1/7 counterpart. Nevertheless this figure has served her purpose well at very least.
While i am not as attached with Saber Alter compared to Jalter or Scathach, i am willing to invest more for this character. Her 1/7 Scale figure made by Alter is still the most definitive version of her in Dress getup which i will patiently wait for her reasonable price or until a decent alternative comes out. I think we are likely to see more of Salter Product coming out with the 3rd Part of Heaven's Feel Movie arriving soon and even more if Shinjuku chapter going to get a movie adaptaion.

Beautiful high quality figure. Just look at those glowing eyes and willowing dress. Just a pity that it didn’t come with the dark Excalibur.
ReplyDeletewouldn't have minded the scale too much if this figure had come with Excalibur Morgan
