Not really a mechatalk post but in this blog post i will discuss about Super Robot and Real Robot in relation with the Poll that had been up for a while in this blog. First of all i have to thank everyone who had participated the poll for over 6 months. From the poll results out of 41 polls 29 prefers Real Robot which sums up to 70% of the total polls while Super Robot only account for 30% of the poll. The reason why i decide to put up the polling is to see which niche i should focus with for the blog in the future but it does not mean that i will neglect one niche over another.
Personally i am a real robot fan myself since Real Robots were the dominant niche in my time as it slowly take over Super Robots. Super Robots is quite unpopular to the current generation of anime fans considering the niche gradually become more obscure after seeing its Golden Age in 80s. One of the common things that i see from Super Robots that cause them to be unpopular despite having great mecha design are either having lackluster plots in their series, significant quality problems and overstretched plots which are rather common for 80s mecha series. Some of the good of example of these cases are Zeorymer, Dancougar and Aquarion which SRW series definitely help to contribute for their popularity.
While there are some gray area in distinguishing Real Robot with Super Robot considering some of mecha series takes several aspects of both niches and the series is taken into one niche if it mainly focus on the aspects of that niche. Out of many Real Robots series that i watched/read, some of the series that depict the characteristics of Real Robot really well are Full Metal Panic, Votoms and Patlabor which i will leave to future discussions how they manage to become the best example of the niche. Now it is time for me to prepare my review of the year

At last Vita got its first Gundam games made by Artdink which is well known for its Gundam Battle series. This time Vita get Gundam Battle series as well which features Gundam Seed series including Astray. It seems Bandai promotes SEED series rather intense for the HD Remaster of the series or perhaps there is something else that Bandai had in mind. From the first look, the graphics greatly improved from the PSP counterpart of Assault Survive at least and probably the gameplay will take some elements from Battle Memories. Personally this is not a game that urge me to get Vita soon as i am still skeptical with the gameplay due to Artdink's habit of over reusing materials and my bad impression left by Assault Survive which is a total grindfest. I am still waiting for the PV for clearer look on this game but my expectations wouldn't be high. I hope this game wouldn't suffer Bamco treatment of abusing DLCs and i wonder which mecha game will be coming next on VITA.

It is abit late already but better than never, me Yami as the author of Realm of Darkness would like to say MERRY CHRISTMAS! While personally i don't celebrate Christmas myself, i begin to appreciate this very day that is considered to sacred for follower of Christs. Personally i think Christmas is not about having luxurious banquets or getting presents but gathering with your family and spend your precious time together which is something that money cannot buy. Being the last few days in the end of the year, Christmas is also the perfect time to reflect things we have done over last 12 months and think over what we should aspire for next year. For Christmas, other than the classic Christmas Carol i would recommend to watch Gundam 0080:War in the Pocket which is a perfect watch for Christmas. Once again i would like to say MERRY CHRISTMAS and hope we learn something valuable from this particular day.
Here is a music video that i find fits perfectly with the theme of Christmas

From the latest issue of Hobby Japan we finally get the release time for the MG Duel Gundam Assault Shroud. The kit confirmed to be released on February next year with the price of 4200 Yen. Initially i expect Duel Gundam will be released around march but i suppose Bandai is rather fast to release them as they just need to reuse the existing frames of Strike Gundam. While i plan to get this kit, i don't think i will buy it soon enough as i will spend plenty of my budget on January for several releases on that month. As a part of SEED HD remaster program i would say Aegis would have the biggest chance to be released after Duel Gundam if things going well.

Well after roughly 2 months of its announcement we finally get the 2nd PV of the Upcoming sequel of Lord of Elementals that will be released on January next year. This time the PV shows more of the game mechanisms and the animations. The game animations which is one of the SRW series selling point looks really wonderful despite not the usual animations that we got(Just look at Granzon's new Black Hole Cluster animation!). Finally the PV also fully clarify the full voiceover for the ingame animations and clear differences of the animation for LOE 1 and 2. While my wallet definitely will already shrinking quite early next year, i think i will really enjoy the game as an SRW fan.

Just now i watched Ys 1 & 2 OVA which was left in my closet untouched for years. Surprisingly it is a decent adaptation in its time despite being non canon by now. What really contrast the OVA with the game is the character design especially the first one which really differs with the character design of the present YS 1 and 2. While the OVA take on different turn on telling the stories of the series, The OVA reveal more of the series settings such as the motive of Dark Fact and his character in Ys 1. For some reason the animation style of Ys 1 and 2 is different with the later had better animation(The Twin goddesses look quite beautiful in Ys 2 OVA) which i would say really good at its time. For fellow Ys fans i would recommend to try to give a watch for the OVA while probably for non followers these OVAs probably look like a generic Fantasy anime. I hope someday in the future there will be anime adaptations for Ys again.

Recently the classic mecha series Machine Robo: Revenge of Chronos get another treatment again. This time the lead mecha of the series Baikanfu got ES Alloy treatments which is a lineup made by Fewture that resemble with Megahouse Deformover and focus on classic mecha title from 70-80s era. The ES Alloy of baikanfu consist of 3 units which are Rom Stol , Kenryu and Baikanfu itself and Pile Formation gimmick also available where the smaller units can be put inside the larger one just like Matroshka Doll. The ES Alloy costs 8400 yen since the size of Baikanfu is 16.5 cm tall despite having an SD proportion. I am a big fan of Baikanfu itself considering i am still seeking for its Soul of Chogokin because it is one of my favorite unit in SRW MX and Rom Stoll is really badass for trolling the enemies at all times and i hope future SRW this could feature this guy again.

At last i got some internet connection set up in my current staying place and thus i will resume my blogging activity. Anyway i have been interested with some Votoms figure after i watched Votoms series last year. This particular figure is Chirico Cuvie sculpted by Yamato few years ago in 2005 and meant to complement the Scope Dogs that Yamato made on the same scale. The figure quality is great for its time and the only flaw i see from this action figure is its face sculpture. Chirico Cuvie is the lead character in Votoms series who is a battle hardened AT pilot who seeks to be freed from war. Chirico is very well known for his prowess as an AT pilot and survival skill where he can get away from situations where a normal man would have died already. Unfortunately the action figure is discontinued already but i would love to buy this guy if it is ever restocked. For your interest the pilot of Alteisen in SRW OG series, Kyosuke Nanbu had his character based on Chirico.

Got my package from Mandarake last week and seems like my last loot for this year. This version of Fubuki that i got is the Japanese Imperial guard version which i mistook it for the UN version when i ordered it from mandarake. I get this Fubuki for 2500 yen which is the same price with Tamase's Fubuki and probably the actual UN Fubuki would be more expensive. Apparently the Japanese Imperial Guard version of Fubuki seems to appear in Total Eclipse as part of the Prominence Project where Yuuya probably pilot it for a while. Definitely this won't be the last time that i get Volks A3 since i need to get F-4 and F-15 first before stopping collecting these lineup.

Seems like Kotobukiya tries to catch up its Muvluv lineup again by announcing another new addition for the lineup which is Shiranui Nigata/ Mk II Isumi Valkyrie version which will be released in March next year with price of 4800 Yen. This version of Shiranui is the mass production version of Shiranui that Yuuya Bridges used in Total Eclipse as the shoulder armor is completely different with Regular Shiranui and used Japanese Imperial Guard color scheme. This Shiranui bears the emblem of Isumi Valkyries as it is supposedly used by the 3 survivors of the Squad which are Misae Munakata, Kazama Touko and Suzumiya Akane. Probably this version of shiranui is well known for participating offensive operation in Cheorwon BETA Hive 2 years after Muvluv Alternative.
I don't think i will get this kit either since the only conditions for me to get one does not exist in this kit. Probably this version of Shiranui used the same frame with the Demonstrator version which was released early this year though i don't know there will be any particular difference with the ofrmer one. Hopefully Kotobukiya would be release a new TSF kit rather than another repaint which i could see Fubuki or Soviet TSFs getting one next.

From the recent Tamashi Nation event on this year, plenty of Bandai Tamashii lineup products are revealed. Some of the products are really interesting like 1/6 Aquarius Hyoga or SRC Assault Aquarion but the one that catch my eye the SH Figuart of Touhou Fuhai. I recall SH Figuart lineups are one of the Bandai Action figure lineup which focus on Tokusatsu series like Kamen Rider or Super Sentai though Domon Kasshu managed to get its rendition on this lineup. TouhouFuhai/Master Asia is one of the main Antagonist of G Gundam Series who was the former mentor of Domon Kasshu. He is the undisputed champion of the 12th Gundam Fight mastering his own style of martial arts called Undefeated of the East. Along with Schwarz Bruder, Master Asia is the most badass character in G Gundam considering he is the manliest character in gundam series ever capable of taking down a Mobile Suit with Empty hand. Probably the action figure cost around 2500 yen just like other Figuarts lineup and i suppose i should get MG Master Gundam in the future.

Recently i have played MGS Peacewalker on my PSP and i find it to be quite fun game despite having slightly different gameplay orientation with previous titles. I have been browsing for some MGS merchandise and i find Play Arts had plenty of its lineup made from this series. One of the MGS Play arts that i am interested with is the Big Boss/Naked Snake with Battle armor featured in Peacewalker. This uniform provide greatest protection for Big Boss in exchange of stealth and mobility which are great for all out combat against Metal Gear or Armored Vehicles. The Action Figure comes with Machine Gun, RPG and handgun as the armament and extra headpiece to portray the action figure as regular MSF soldier. This action figure would be the first one that i will get if i ever consider to get a MGS action figure as it is still affordable compared to the Playarts version of the Metal Gears.

Out of all Endless Waltz version of Gundam Wing MG kits, for some reason i find Sandrock Gundam is the most appealing from the 5 Gundams. Arguably Sandrock seems to be the weakest out of the Gundam Wing Team and least popular as well. However Sandrock has its specialty as it is probably the most energy efficient gundam and the best in land battle especially in desert fight. I will be getting this kit in near future at least until i finished most of my backlog. I would repaint it with the Sandrock kai color scheme which would be even more awesome if i managed to get some cape for it which shouldn't be hard.

If you ask me what is the best martial arts manga i have ever read, it would be Kenji in my opinion. The manga revolves about the journey of a japanese boy called Kenji mastering chinese martial art called Bajiquan along with other Chinese martial arts while seeking his whereabout of his grandfather. The manga started when Kenji is still a boy with right sense of justice then continued to his adolescent time which is the main part of the manga. The reason why i find this manga surpass its value in martial arts compared to popular titles like Strongest Disciple Kenichi or Karate shoukoshi Kohinata Minoru is that it is one of the few manga that have quite accurate depiction of martial arts and have some well written explanations without overly biased perspective. While the story near the end of the series is not really good, the manga is still really enjoyable to read until the end. Kenji is probably one of the few japanese martial arts manga that depicts chinese kungfu in modern settings really well and one of the best ever written.

Recently i played Fate Tiger Coloseum which is fighting game made by Capcom and Cavia for PSP which features Fate Stay Night character, i have sudden interest with the Nendoroid Saber Lion. After i played Saber Lion's scenario in Colosseum Upper i find this version of Saber is really cute and wants to get it. Saber Lion is a clone of Saber produced by the Tiger Holy Grail accidentally in Fate Tiger Colosseum which she just appeared in Saber's scenario ending though her character is fleshed out in Upper. She is pretty much treated as Saber's little sister by Emiya household and she can speak word "Gao" only which some character can interpret.
Unfortunately the Nendoroid has been long sold out since it was released in 2008 and Nendoroid lineups gets their stock run ot really fast. The nendoroid have Meat stick which is used as her weapon and rice bowl as accessories and several face expressions which i find her sad expression to be adorable. The nendoroid would have been better if the lion plushie's expression can be changed and Excalibur is included. Currently i am thinking to get this Nendoroid from YJA due to the product has been discontinued and don't want to get it in Ebay due to the risk of getting a bootleg one.

Since Rance Quest has been released recently, there are some good opportunity for Rance merchandise to be released and now we got Figma version of Uesugi Kenshin herself! The Figma will be released on March next year with the price of 3800 yen. The figma comes with some accessories including sword effects and Kensin's favorite giant onigiri. Alicesoft's Uesugi Kenshin is a Warlord from Uesugi clan in Ranceverse's JAPAN just like her real counterpart who had rivalries with Takeda house debuted in Sengoku Rance. Kenshin fell in love with Rance at the first sight when she met him in the middle of battlefield and subsequently become Rance's lover after he saved her from his evil uncle's imprisonment. Kenshin is one of the most popular Rance heroine and i recall she even win character popularity contest for eroge back in 2007 beating Saber for her first place. For anyone who haven't played Sengoku Rance i would certainly recommend to play the game as it is one of the VN that has better gameplay.

The D-Style lineup for Armored core get another addition to its line up yet again and this time it is Hogire Noblesse Oblige just like i guessed few months ago. The kit will be released on march next year with the price of 2000 yen which is the same price with D-Style White Glint. yet again i am really tempted to get this kit despite i am not collecting SD kits. Probably Lahire Stasis will get the D-Style Treatment next if there is one or Sobrero will get it either though i would like to see Nineball Seraph would get one in the future. I wonder where the D-Style kits will expand the lineup next whether it is Super Robots or Real Robots though i hoped Kotobukiya could make one for SRW OG.

A few while ago Bandai announced that a certain MS from Gundam Seed will get a Master Grade treatment as part of anniversary of the HD remaster release of Gundam SEED series and finally it is confirmed to be Duel Gundam Assault Shroud. So far there is no information when the kit will be released or how much will it cost but i think the kit will be around 3500 - 4500 yen price tag. At first i thought the SEED MS that will be announced are either Justice, Aegis or Providence since they have closest relationship with the lead character MS though i am still interested with this kit since i am a fan of mecha that can attach additional armor parts and might get one if the price is reasonable. Duel Gundam itself is the 2nd Gundam from G Project stolen by ZAFT and piloted by Ace pilot Yzak Joule. Throughout the series Duel Gundam fought Strike quite frequently as Yzak sought revenge with the pilot of Strike Gundam who injured his face during ms combat.

Just got my stuff yesterday from Amiami. As promised i get Soulgain and Rockman Zero since i am looking forward to build them from the beginning when they announced and i also managed to grab 4th volume of FSS reboot from HLJ. It is also unexpected for me to get Composite ver ka Exbein considering i don't really like this guys as it is just a poor replacement of Huckebein Mk III. However having the toy almost 50% off and preorder cd bonus makes this toy a get for me in the end. Unfortunately it is highly likely that i will be able to worki on these kit by the end of this year since i still got couple of backlogs to finish first(yet again).

The First trailer of SRW Masou Kishin 2 is up already as promised by Banpresto and i am able to finalize my decision. From the first trailer, it shows that the animation sprites for Masou Kishin is rather different with the traditional SRW series but still looks good nonetheless. Probably some SRW Z fans is disappointed with the release of this game for PSP as there are possibility that Saisei Hen was delayed because of this but i am really looking forward for this game nevertheless. I finally decided to preorder the limited edition which include the remastered version of Lord of Elemental which was ported to NDS last year since the LOE 1 version for PSP also get voice over.

Finally some information regarding the SRC version of Zeorymer has been revealed after its first appearence in the wonderfest this year. The SRC will be released around february next year with the price of 4800 yen and hopefully it is not Tamashii exclusive. While i am not into SRC lineup, Zeorymer will be in my purchase list since i am rather fond of with this guy. The SRC seems to come with the Giant Kanji letter of "Heaven" which appear whenever Zeorymer unleash Hades Attack. Zeorymer itself is the lead mecha of manga series called Hades Project Zeorymer which later adapted into 4 episodes OVA. Zeorymer is well known with its Destructive power as it possess infinite energy through Dimension Coupler System and really destructive power as it can unleash massive explosions equivalent to Nuke whenever it clasps its hands.

Within 2 years Bandai released these toys pretty fast for sure since this lineup has been announced to get its 6th lineup which will be released around next year. Just as usual the toys will be sold as a whole box containing 10 toys with 6 variety and a secret unit with the price around 3600 Yen. Apparently the 6th issue come with some extra gimmick for one of its toys where it can swap parts to form another variant. I wish i could find the store that sell toys separately because i really wanted the Delta Plus and Jesta from the 5th issue. I wish there could be some continuation of the Gundam Odyssey even though it might not be related with this toy lineup.

While we are waiting for SRW Z 2.2 Saisei Hen, Bandai Namco announced another new SRW title for PSP which will be released on January next year with the price of 6000 yen. The announced SRW will be the sequel of SRW Masou Kishin LOE which was released 15 years ago and got recent remade on DS and the sequel called Revelations of Evil God. Masou Kishin is the spin off SRW OG title that features the pilot of Cybuster, Masaki as the main character revolving around his adventure across the Subterranean world La Gias. Apparently the sequel will feature black version of Cybuster which is called Zelvoid(sp?) and probably play as the role of antagonist and somehow will be related to Shurouga(at least it seems so). Unfortunately i am not that well versed in Masou Kishin series and apparently there is a limited edition of the game that apparently include the touched up version of the first LOW so i might just skip the DS version and wait for this one.
Here are is the link of the screenshot of the game so far shown in Famitsu

Just now i watched the Stage play adaptation of LOGH which was played early this year and i find it is okay but in the end really pales in comparison with the original series. The Stage play is roughly span around 2 hours and summarises the event in the first season of the anime on Reinhard's perspective exclusively. The stage play does not represent the setting of LOGH really well given that it is too futuristic at this time and the props does not really match the one it represent from the original series. I can still comprehend the lack of spaceship battle but i am extremely disappointed with the melee battle since Mittermeyer and Reunthal fight Ovlesser with a spear not a Battle Axe :( . My other disappointment from this series is the poor characterization especially Merkatz who is not that stoic.
Nevertheless some of the characters are played really well especially Kircheis(are you frustrated?) and Mittemeyer though i think Reinhard and Reuenthal's character can be improved. As a LOGH fan i am disappointed with the stage play but nevertheless i can see that there are some effort for it. If you are a LOGH find you might try to watch this one for an interesting experience of the series though don't expect the Stage Play had the Awesome Philosophy and Politics that the original anime had due to restricted screentime.

Just saw this on /m/ and i am simply loss at words when i see Brasta is getting plamo treatment from Kotobukiya which seems to be announced in this year's model hobby show. I never expect that Brasta would get the plamo treatment that fast at least before Virgola or Gunleon had one but probably it has something to do with the series anniversary. The kit will be released next year with no further information regarding the date and price yet but i predict that it will be released around April with price tag of 4800 yen just like other most SRW kits. From the pics above the kit will at least come with the EAGLE gun with the sniper rifle parts along with the shield, i hope the kit will get the Bayonet parts as well along with the gimmick of the shield though i doubt the SPIGOT parts will be included for this kit.
Brasta itself is the original unit in this year's latest SRW installment which is SRW Z2 Hakai Hen and piloted by Crowe Burst. Brasta is protoype unit designed specifically for fighting against Jigenjuu/ Dimensional Beasts which are the original enemies in the series and it is possible that the unit will be upgraded in Saisei Hen which will be released next year as well.
you can also my review for SRW Z2 Hakai Hen Here

Just now i managed to finish my second playthrough after kicking Vindel's ass for the 2nd time. As you see i used Axel again with his Soulgain which is the official mecha that he piloted. I find is Axel is quite hilarious when he still lost his memory in the first half of the game as he is pretty silly especially when he used Genbu Goudan and shout Rocket Soul Punch! In this 2nd playthrough i spend most of my time getting most of my pilots reach 50 kills for Ace status and i find Shuffle Alliance is really strong. I also find Nadesico units to be great for the beginning of the game especially Akito which has one of the more useful Ace bonus where you will get extra Mars Bowl(restore 50 SP) when you bring him which are really great for boss fights and he can be quite powerful when you bring Gai along.
I also finally understand why people said Don Saucer in this game is terribly difficult, i would say this guy is much harder to fight compared with Vindel since this guy is virtually unhittable without lock-on seishin and even worse it has quite huge amount of HP and you had to fight him after fighting another boss which got 150k HP and hard to hit as well. If you don't upgrade your unit properly, you won't stand a chance against this guy for real.
With this i have completed all necessary preparation for me to work on Soulgain kits once it is released by Kotobukiya which i preordered one already. I might consider doing 3rd playthrough with Vaisaga though i won't be doing anytime soon at least until i finish my playthrough with SRW J.

Finally kotobukiya list the 2nd CAS Variant of Liger Zero and as expected it is Jaeger! The kit will be released on February next year with the full kit or the option parts with cost of 7000 and 3000 yen respectively. For some reason the kit got is little bit more expensive compared to Schneider probably due to having more parts i suppose. Jaeger itself is the Liger Zero variant that is specialized for Reconnaisance or Lightning fast combat. It is equipped with more powerful version of Ion booster in order to achieve its goal. I am not quite a fan of Jaeger but i will get this one anyway since i will be collecting all of the CAS parts for Liger Zero. With this it is pretty much confirmed that the next CAS for Liger Zero that will be released is Panze which hopefully Kotobukiya would release.

Last week i managed to finish my first playthrough of EFSF with General Revil as my CO in Shin Gihren no Yabou. I had to say this is the best strategy series for Gundam games as it has one of the deeper gameplay and story. Shin Gihren is the latest installment of Gihren no Yabou series which is just released few while ago and features OYW and CCA campaign. The gameplay is quite similar with Civilization series except the map and the goal is pretty much fixed. From this game i gained lots of valuable knowledge for UC Era particularly the Geography and tactical roles of the OYW MS(mostly EFSF for now).
As General Revil, you lead EFSF against Zeon in One Year War. This game did really well at portraying the ordeals that Federation had in early phases of OYW, when Zeon's Zaku army overwhelm their military unit and how V Project helped EFSF to gain equal footing against Zeon. I recall i really struggled early on when i had to capture Peking with Type 61s and Flymantas where i need 6 Type 61 to kill a single Zaku II. However once i had my MP Guntank produced i had my campaign slightly easier until i am able to Mass produce GM. However the difficulties spiked up again when i started my campaign in Space as i only have Luna 2 as HQ while Zeon got 4 HQs which include Solomon, A Baoa Qu, Granada and Side 3. The main reasons why i got problem in my space campaign are due to Zeon's Mobile Armor which show how fearsome the Newtype are(i had nightmares with Braw Bro and Big Zams) and significant distance of Luna 2 with Solomon which makes my unit reinforcements takes time to arrive.
Probably the main reason why this game is not that popular for international gundam fans is due to the language barrier as this series had lots of Kanjis and twice as hard to read compared to SRW series. However if you are a diehard UC fan, you will be in absolute treat if you play this game and it is not impossible to understand the content as long as you are willing to learn the language(there are some available menu translations on the internet too). For now i am doing Gihren's campaign and i am taking slow pace for now. If i have some free time, i might consider to do some mini guide for this game as well.

Since today i got some free time to work on My Delta Plus, i get into significant progress already. I managed to repaint the whole body except the wings which is quite a progress! Though i think i will repaint some parts to fix the flaws on several parts notably the shoulder armor which you could some marks around it. Probably i could to finish the kit by next week and i am thinking to make some kit review meanwhile.

Friday, September 30, 2011
This week i have been starting working on my MG Delta Plus and so far i have completed repainting one of the arm and leg which i intentionally do for comparison. I sand all of the parts where i use the lower grits for external armor. I used TS-21 again for the gold parts just like my MG Hyaku Shiki and some TS-40 and TS-18 for black and red color. I should have get a design mat for better representation of my WIPs and probably i will get one sometimes later.
I used the repainted version of Delta Plus as my base of work which i find from GundamGuy though i still use my MG Hyaku Shiki for some paint guide.
