After being stuck in a prolonged bottleneck for more than five months, I finally managed to clear Chapter IX of Mecharashi, which in turn unlocks the game’s final level cap restriction. This is a significant milestone, as there are very few gacha games that demand this level of sustained time and attention for progression. Each “urgent mission” required to unlock the next chapter in Mecharashi is a substantial drain on mental energy, and the final hurdle is no exception.

Mecharashi Current Progression report
Among all the gacha games I’ve played, Mecharashi stands out as the most notorious when it comes to progression roadblocks. At nearly every major level milestone, the game forces players to clear absurdly difficult missions just to unlock the next power-up tier, which is hard-locked behind each chapter. Until now, I’ve tolerated the nonsense Mecharashi throws at players every 5–10 levels. However, the latest progression hurdle is by far the worst I’ve encountered. For this notoriety, Mecharashi earned themselves dedicated article in Realm of Darkness that criticize this poorly designed part.

Mecharashi Bigfirebird Shadow Troops EX Series – XR
It has been several months since Mecharashi debuted in Global server and this scrapped Front Mission mobile games become something quite on its own. I have enjoyed the game so far as I see it as a worthy successor of Final Gear being overall more organized of all. The series might not be having any presence at hobby industry at the moment but Bigfirebird did make a model kit for XR, the posterboy of Mecharashi. This one was sold 69 RMB and released back in Q3 2025.
XR is a medium sized ST versatile in assault or ranged combat. This iconic mech was used by Rosa, the main heroine of Mecharashi who played a brief role as mentor for protagonists until she got captured and served as mysterious antagonist later on. On Rosa's setup, XR comes dual wields machine gun and a Railcannon for flexible close and ranged combat option.
This particular version of XR Model kit is unpainted so that the collectors could paint these STs according to their preference. This one reminds me of Front Mission Structure Arts which are meant for collectors with more advanced painting skills and albeit more affordable version. Personally I would love to see Mecharashi appear as Blindbox or diecast model kit as their design are more than worthy to be made into such medium. Given Blokees obssession with mainstream IPs, Sembo could definitely make something from Mecharashi

Mecharashi Global Server
It is already about a month since Mecharashi made it to Global server. I never expected what started from a game project abandoned by Square Enix able to survive for two years in China long enough to transition into global stage. As somebody who constantly look for a mecha game to fill in the void of Final Gear and Super Mecha Champion, I find Mecharashi global server announcement to be compelling and pre-registered in no time.
After playing for several weeks in Global server, my initial impression with Mecharashi is overall quite a positive one. In terms of baseline design, Mecharashi is rather similar to Girls Frontline 2 whether gameplay or gacha but with mecha flavor. Overall Mecharashi is a solid mecha game albeit still thoroughly have Chinese gacha game design at its core.

Mecharashi 钢岚
Early this year I have seen some trailer about Front Mission gacha game made by Chinese game Studio which certainly caught my attention. However after a long period of silence turns out the deal for the Front Mission game fell through but the Dev pushed on the game and repackage it as a new game dubbed Mecharashi/钢岚 which literally mean Mech Storm and has opened its service last week on 8th December available for PC. IOS and Android.
Mecharashi already caught the attention from mecha fans with its impressive visual blending Front Mission and Xcom style presentation and as long as it has solid gameplay and proper monetization, I think it had the chance to survive and become big. Personally I think it is for the best that this Chinese dev team called Black Jack Studio to separate from Square Enic and set forth its own journey because Square Enix themselves do not have any idea how to treat Front Mission IP anymore as the Front Mission Dev team had long gone depart from the company.
I don't have much expectation with Mech-arashi at the moment but I do hope the game will perform well so that it will see Global release someday. For those who want to seek further details, you can check this game through the Official Page.
