Fate/Grand Order Lostbelt 6 Avalon Le Fae Clear

Took me more than a year to complete this particular supposed peak of FGO Lostbelt chapters. But as I did promise to myself when I got Arcueid in FGO 7th anniv and LB7 is looming over, I decided to clear Lostbelt 6 Avalon Le Fae over past 2 weeks. Actually, I would have made this sort of FGO article for LB5.2 if Olympus was not an utter disappointment compared to LB 5.1 Atlantis which remains to be my personal favorite for the abundant Heroism from the casts in that one.

Overall, I felt Lostbelt 6 is a drag to finish with pacing issues all over again despite it has some good moments which are not utilized to the fullest. But given this particular Lostbelt chapter has great significance with Morgan, easily one of the most popular waifu in FGO and personal favorite as well. I decided to make a full fledged article in regards to my experience with this supposed High points in FGO.

In Lostbelt 6 Avalon le Fae, right after triumphing over the strongest Lostbelt pair; Zeus and Wodime in Olympus, Chaldea had to face another set of insurmountable sets of challenge in the alternate timeline of Britain where Fairies flourished over humanity.

Long story short in LB6, Fairies are literally the Biggest troublemakers in the LB6 setting with the whole world ending calamities that beset upon their world are caused by themselves. It is very hard to take pity on them when they simply refuse and personally ruin the opportunity for salvations that appear before them preferring to become Irredeemable psychopaths. This whole circus of madness can be traced from the 6 Fairy Clans progenitors relationship with their benefactor, God of Beast Cernunos.

While Lostbelt 6 got many shortcomings all over, but at very least it serves its main purpose wonderfully. As for a long time Typemoon fans like myself, this particular chapter is pretty much a reenactment of Fate route from Fate/Stay Night. It is a Boy meet Girl story all over again which have Castoria served as the main star of the story with the help of Chaldea Master. Through this Avalon Le Fae lostbelt chapter, FGO fans got to experience the similar emotional rollercoaster all over again. The settings and the props might be different, but the essence of the story remains the same including the ending.

Personally, I feel that Castoria storyline in LB6 could have been elevated even further, but due to business related decisions her relation with Ritsuka cannot be progressed further and Eggplant Kouhai gotta keep the main spotlight. Seriously even as Morgan fanboy, I could see Castoria romance with Male Ritsuka could have been a very strong one and even better than Saber/Shirou’s If Nasu wished for it and there is no evil corpo to meddle in.

The reason why I feel that Lostbelt 6 is a drag with its pacing because you have first 20 chapters served as useless fillers and the ball only really gets to start rolling around Chapter 23 and peaked at 28-29. In the last sequence of LB6 you get to fight gauntlets of boss fight which could have used a better pacing.

In this Gauntlet of boss fight, you will get to fight the Monster version of Morgan’s Top former Tam Lins; Lancelot Melusine and Gawain Barghest. Melusine is surprisingly easy fight with Saber Lancelot easily deal tons of punishment against his fairy counterpart. Whereas Barghest is slightly abit harder as you get to fight with a really aggressive monster befitting the depiction which forced me to use a single Leyline Stone. But the main highlight of LB6 Boss Fight still definitely goes to Cernunnos.

For a Demon God that brings forth world ending Major calamities after Millenias worth of unresolved grudges from the Fairy misdeeds, you only get to face Cernunnos once in LB6 chapter.

When this boss first appear in FGO JP, It had a reputation for being the hardest boss fight in storyline. In some way it is true that Cernunnos is a difficult boss fight to clear without retry but still nothing compared to the insanity from FGO Nero Fest trial quests. So with proper preparations and generous supply of Leyline Stones handouts, you can easily defeat Cernunnos if you know what you are doing.

Cernunnos is a berserker class Boss with massive 3 stage HP Pool befitting its enormous stature. Usually berserker type enemies easily goes down with its class weakness penalty but Cernunnos got some tricks under its furs. Cernunnos got defense buff that need to be peeled down by servants attacks which will give Curse debuff in generous amount before your servants can deal serious damage upon it. The hardest part of Cernunnos boss fight is the during its last HP bar sequence as you really need to peel a lot of its Defense buff. Thus the strats favor ST Nuker bursts with solid support to bring down this enemy. Servants with Damage bonus against Threat to Humanity works very well here which is why I use Enkidu and MHXX as my main DPS with Okita as backup with her Ignore Defense NP. Overall it took me 2 Stones since I am not exactly obsessed to be completionist for FGO

Before LB6 chapter conclude after Cernunnos being defeated, you get to have a bonus boss fight with Oberon for reasons that you will have to figure out yourself. In this part I just want to say that having the Nodame Cantabile mangaka to serve as Oberon’s illustrator somehow works out and turned out well for LB6 even if the drawing style feels like a mismatch for FGO.

In LB6, I would have expected Castoria final ascension make a grand appearance in the story only to find out that for such elaborate character design have very short screen time in LB6 story. I felt that Nasu probably never really make it in the schedule deadline for LB6 for the endgame sequence to be rushed badly as I could see LB6 could usr another 3-5 chapters to properly conclude its story. So what we end up is having 3 Big Boss Fights jammed in a single chapter and Castoria stuck in her 1st&2nd Ascension throughout 95% of LB6 storyline. This is why I felt LB6 story is not as satisfying compared to LB 5.1 despite it still manage to complete its main role for as the stage for Castoria. Even so at very least this LB6 do have some of the better supporting characters overall including the NPCs.

As a big time Morgan fan since her debut, My primary reason to complete LB6 would be getting the closure for her part in the story. Morgan's my room story line definitely worth the journey where as Castoria's part are just bittersweet given the tragedy that had to befall upon her in the story.

With LB6 chapter cleared, one of my largest debt with FGO is gone and Tunguska should be relatively a breeze compared to the former which had pacing issue. I think I should be able to complete Tunguska within a week or two compared to LB6 which probably took around a month with my work commitments. As I finished witnessing Castoria’s story of Avalon le Fae, from now on I will put her in the 3rd Ascension as she deserves it. Canonically if there is no Mash around, Castoria would have been Ritsuka’s best love interest as their storyline naturally lead to the direction.

I also will finally have Habetrot visit my Chaldea with LB6 being done and I will certainly wait patiently until she reach NP5. Also Lasengle screwed up really bad for having the Final Battle mystic code only available at the beginning of Tunguska just to show how badly this game company declined over the years.

Personally, I don’t have much hope with FGO since the storyline will not get any better after LB6 considering LB7 conclusion had dragged up for more than 2 years already. Nasu also probably lost most of his touch already by this time as age had caught up with him. But at very least I do hope Type Moon still have some decency to properly wrap up Fate Grand Order when the time has come for the game.

Lastly as a closure for this post, I am sharing my result from the thanksgiving GSSR which is lackluster as expected considering my odds of getting Dupes are over 50% with this one. But I still hope I could get King Hassan on this year's Thanksgiving banner.
