Vocaloid Frame Arms Girls 1/12 Snow Miku

 

It has been around 4–5 years since Kotobukiya released Frame Arms Girl Hatsune Miku. After such a long gap, the timing feels a bit unexpected, but they’ve decided to pick up where they left off with their take on Snow Miku. Scheduled for release in August 2026, Frame Arms Girl Snow Miku will be priced at 7,700 yen.

Compared to the more recent wave of Vocaloid products for the ever-present diva, Frame Arms Girl Snow Miku may not appear particularly flashy at first glance. However, it is expected to retain the strong fundamentals that define Kotobukiya’s lineup—most notably the blend of mechanical design elements with a cute, character-focused aesthetic.

As such, it stands as a solid mid-level Vocaloid collectible, especially for those who still enjoy the process of assembling model kits. While alternatives like Blokees have delivered strong performances across much of their portfolio, they have yet to fully match the balance and identity that Kotobukiya consistently achieves with this line.

Frame Arms 1/100 Gourai 2

It’s been over a decade since Kotobukiya first launched its Frame Arms model kits, and one of the lineup’s oldest entries which also became a trailblazer for the Frame Arms Girl series, is finally getting an upgraded version! Simply dubbed Gourai 2, this model kit highlights just how far Kotobukiya’s Frame Arms line has come. Scheduled for a June 2026 release, Frame Arms Gourai 2 will retail for 8,000 Yen. 

January 2026 Loot

A very sumptuous banquet of hauls to kick off the year. While it’s not quite as extravagant as my end-of-2025 loot, it’s still massive in its own right. As usual, Chinese model kits make up the bulk of the haul, with Eddas Asgard and Hemoxian Baffarion anchoring the lineup. I also picked up Frame Arms Girl Kongou, mainly for her ship-themed power armor gimmick. That said, with my pile of shame continuing to grow, I’ll probably need to cut back on model kit purchases for a while.

Outside of model kits, I finally completed my Blokees Devastator combiner with the remaining parts, along with a newer batch of Blokees releases. I think Bruticus will have less drama in the availability department though I can still obtain one anyway, whether I have to pay for it or obtain complete Blokees Defender set 04-06.

I also finally got the 1/7 scale King Halo figure shortly after quitting Uma Musume Global. Had I quit the game earlier, I might have skipped her entirely, but she’s one of my favorite characters, so she’s likely staying in the collection.

Lastly, appearances can be deceiving: the most expensive item in this haul is actually one of the smallest; the 25th Anniversary D-3 Digimon Digivice (Digimon 02). With how little free time I have these days, I’m not sure I’ll get around to actually playing with it, but as a collectible, it’s still an absolute gem.

Q3 2025 Loot

 A compilation of loot I gained over past 2-3 months, surprisingly this one is dominated by Model kits, especially Kotobukiya. While the size took quite a room, in terms of overall value it is actually falling on the more affordable side compared to other loots this year. Considering you can get 2-4 model kits of comparable size for a price of the single Japanese diecast toy.

Frame Arms Girl 1/12 Durga Gold Ritter

Usually Kotobukiya sells their Frame Arms Girl Mecha Musume model kit lineup in relatively moderate price range but this one appears to be a deluxe variant! Dubbed as Gold Ritter you can expect this latest Frame Arms Girl Durga comes in high amount of bling! Scheduled for December 2025 release, Frame Arms Girl Durga Gold Ritter will be sold for 14400 Yen SRP.

All Frame Arms Girl Durga always come with a Lance as their standard armament along with one distinct weapon. As for Gold Ritter, she comes with a red translucent fancy sword which gives off a flaming effect impression. I think the 150% price tag increase compared to regular Durga is due to the Gold plating parts. Bandai never had particular good track record with their Gold plated model kit and I wonder if Kotobukiya will be any different? Unless you are really into gold variant color scheme, I think Frame Arms Girl Durga 2 is still overall the best value and I still wait for her rerun.

Frame Arms Girl Izumo Destroyer Version

 
 Kotobukiya have several Top Tier Mecha Musume designs but it is only recently that I noticed their battleship waifus based on their Frame Arms. After Kongou, Kotobukiya did release Izumo as Frame Arms Girl and recently they release 2nd iteration of Izumo, simply dubbed as Destroyer version. Scheduled for October 2025 release, Frame Arms Girl Izumo Destroyer version will be sold for 8800 Yen.

Compared to Izumo's previous iteration, FAG Izumo Destroyer version sports Darker armor color scheme and more Kuudere expression. As for the loadout, I think it still remains the same. On first glance, Izumo appears to be a Light Carrier variant of Shipgirl Mecha Musume in contrast with Kongou's Heavy Cruiser loadout. Just like her Frame Arms original counterpart, Izumo does have Ship mode even if it is not the exact gimmick of the mecha version. Ever since I fell into Mecha Musume rabbit hole, I do feel that heavily mechanised version of Ship Girl like Kotobukiya's Izumo do fall right into my Strike zone. IIRC Kotobukiya's Frame Arms only has Kongou and Izumo back then but I wouldn't mind to see new model for Ship based Frame Arms Girl while I am waiting for FAG Kongou rerun.

Frame Arms Girl Hresvelgr Qipao version

 
 Hresvelgr has been one of the more popular Frame Arms Girl base design and considering Stylet got her casual version last year, there is no reason for Hresvelgr not getting one either! If Stylet got her alternate form in Summer version, Hresvelgr got herself a China dress version which is a complete different look with her mecha musume design. Scheduled for October 2025 release, Frame Arms Girl Qipao version will be sold for 8000 Yen SRP.

Compared to her regular counterpart, Frame Arms Girl Hresvelgr sports more cheerful appearance with slightly sadistic streak. For her main weapon, she comes with a Two Handed Sword that has multiple configurations and capable of pulling off some cool gimmicks with the right accessories. With her new design, Hresvelgr will pass off just fine as Fantasy mecha musume. Though I am personally quite curious why this version of Hresvelgr cost more than her armored cousin like Magatsuki. Nevertheless I do look forward what sort of alternate version that other mainline Frame Arms girl like Baselard or Gourai will have considering Hresvelgr had gotten one.

Frame Arms Girl Wilber Nine

 
 Another Mecha Musume model kit by Kotobukiya from the adaptation of their Frame Arms series. This time it is the Motorcycle mecha Wilber Nine which gets the turn to get the Frame Arms Girl model kit! Scheduled for May 2025, Frame Arms Girl Wilber Nine will be sold for 8998 Yen.

I am a always big sucker for Motorcycle power armor ever since I watched Mospeada and Wilber Nine certainly got the gimmick that catches my attention. Just like its original counterpart, Frame Arms Girl Wilber Nine armor parts capable of transforming into Motorcycle which 1/12 Scale Mecha Musume can ride. However this Frame Arms Girl Wilber Nine comes with one glaring issues and it is the main armaments weapon of choice. In the original Frame Arms version, Wilber Nine wield three sets of Long Dagger like weapon like Fate series Black Keys as its main armament. However the Frame Arms Girl counterpart make this particular version into an awkward Three sectioned wristblades that looked somewhat similar to Nargacuga wings which obviously look weird on modern style mecha. Nevertheless this glaring particular issues can be still fixed somewhat easily and I am looking at MSG Photon Rifle as a prime candidate.

Frame Arms Girl Stylet Swimsuit ver

 I might not be really into Frame Arms Girl lineup from Kotobukiya, but even an amateur in Mecha Musume niche like myself know how influential this particular lineup for Kotobukiya and Hobby Industry. Then from one of their oldest lineup of Frame Arms Girl, Kotobukiya recently decided to make something new for Stylet in the form of Swimsuit version! Scheduled for April 2025, Frame Arms Girl Stylet Swimwear will be sold for 5800 Yen Price tag.

For a Swimwear version, Frame Arms Girl Stylet still have her Mecha aesthetics quite intact and comes with some pretty cool accessories. Her overall look really reminds me of the Infinite Stratos combat uniform which are pretty much modified version of School swimwear. This means, this version of Stylet is quite suitable to serve as base model to be paired any Exoskeleton Model kit like those ACT Mode. No doubt the best part from Frame Arms Girl Stylet for me would be the expressive faceplates which has been Kotobukiya's Mecha Musume model kit lineup strength that gave Bandai a run for their money. Lets see if Gourai or Baselard will got their Swimsuit version too in the future.

Gaogaigar Cross-Frame Girl Star Gaogaigar w/ Goldymarg set

 Mecha Musume was one of the biggest Kotobukiya's money maker since Frame Arms girls inception and this time they are making something big again with Gaogaigar! Couple years ago, Kotobukiya released Mecha Musume version of Gaogaigar in Cross-Frame Girl format which kinda look cool despite I am not really into Mecha Musume niche. However this time Kotobukiya comes with a major upgrade for Gaogaigar-chan with the Star Gaogaigar pack and Goldymarg which takes form as loli carrying Goldion Hammer. This updated version of Cross Frame Gaogaigar will be scheduled for 2024 June release with 16000 Yen for the full set or 9000 Yen Expansion Kit for those who had Cross Frame Gaogaigar before.

 I had tried Frame Arms Girl before with Gourai which was gifted to me and I am quite aware the merit of this particular Kotobukiya Mecha Musume lineup. While Bandai bears some serious competition lately with their 30ms series, Kotobukiya did quite well on the Face Sculpt for their Mecha Musume products which  Bandai took quite sometime to catch up as evidenced with their Fumina Model Kit. Personally I am never really into Mecha Musume but this version of Gaogaigar Cross Frame really sold me since it offers quite alot of playability with the contents. Considering Gaogaigar Popularity, I won't be survived if there will be another Gaogaigar Crossframe joining up whether it is Choryujin or King J-Der. The latter would be very lit!

Sampling on some Kotobukiya Kits

 Being the company's resident gunpla guy, i sometimes got assigned to assemble Sample model kits. This time Kotobukiya sent some of their model kits for my company to promote their products which i get hands on some of them. This time i am assembling Asra Ninja from Megami Device and as for  MSG Gigantic Arms lineup, i get to make Convert Carrier and Rapid Raider.

Since Mecha Musume is off my radar, i never collect Frame Arms Girl and its Equivalent. For Megami Device i think it is FAG offshoot lineup that is intended with more liberty on its design since it doesn't rely on Frame Arms for its aesthetics. While i think Megami Device's face sculpt is not as good as FAG, it is still miles ahead from Bandai's with their Fuminas. Just as usual, Kotobukiya's model kit require painting to look good but the flesh sculpt is not too shabby. Personally i feel that Megami Device would benefit more with removable armor system instead of parts swapping.

 I haven't been keeping in touch with Kotobukiya kit for a long time already and now their MSG lineup include mecha accessories alrd. The Gigantic arms model kits are intercompatible for Kotobukiya 1/12 Frame Arms Girl and 1/24 Hexa Gear figure use which are very versatile. Between Rapid Raider and Convert Carrier i really like the latter more because the Carrier has more modification potential. Though i think the Rapid Raider can be still compatible for Figmas with some minor alteration.

After trying these model kits, i think i will look more into the Hexa Gear Lineup as they have rideable Robot model kits now.

Wonderfest 2014

I think it has been couple of years already i do limited coverage for Wonderfest which is one of the major event where the companies in hobby industry showing some future release for their products. I always pay attention to Kotobukiya and maybe Megahouse or Bandai and as always lots of stuff to be shown but not the one i look forward to. Shingeki no Kyojin and Nintendo as well as Kancolle products are shown a lot  in the wonderfest.

 
From Kotobukiya section there are couple of new SRW kits from OGs2 but no Masoukishin. It appears Kotobukiya will be going to release AS Belial kit as Laevatein follow up soon which indicate there is a chance that FMP series will be reignited in some way  considering Z3 is coming up which Bandai also even prepare a Metal Build for Laevatein. Muvluv got some new 1/144 kit but for non scale, Takemikazuchi got 1.5 version which probably address the issues of the former version. The upcoming Frame Arms is also being displayed which are 2 knight esque model which indicate that Frame Arms are likely to take different directions than it used to be.

I was expecting Sentinel going to show their new RIOBOT lineup but i guess they plenty already last year. Megahouse is going to release something for Orguss which is likely to be action figure and as for Max Factory, i am quite surprised that they catch up with Dougram lineup quite fast as numerous grunt units models are shown. The notable one is Soltic and Iron Foot which is the MP version of Dougram. Guyver figma is confirmed for this year at long last and Archer from FSN is getting figma though i am not too interested due to the figure size. That's all my coverage for this year's wonderfest and hopefully i will still do the next year.

Frame Arms YSX-24 Baselard

Remember the new design of Frame Arms introduced early this year? finally Kotobukiya just announced the release of the model with official name "Baselard" which its name derived from a certain type of dagger. The kit will be released at the end of this year with the price around 3500 yen. From what it looks Baselard is a light armored type mech which gives heroic-looking impression. While the mecha frame is similar to Exbrau/Valhawk, in terms of armaments it appears Takayuki Yanase intend to mirror Baselard with Cherudim Gundam to some extent as its weapon are stored at the back waist like Cherudim Shield Bits. Probably one of the best looking Frame Arms so far and there is a chance we may see some variants of the mecha for future lineup released by Kotobukiya

New Frame Arms model announced!

Slow but sure, Kotobukiya's original lineup of Frame Arms steadily grows in numbers. Out of the many informations from the latest Hobby Japan,, a new design for the Frame Arms lineup really piqued my interest. So far no name has been given for this particular design but from what the scans tell this new Frame Arms is designed as a Heroic type mecha. What makes me really interested with this design is that it really has close resemblance with ACE 3 Exbrau and SRW W Valhawk from what i see. But it is no surprise since the designer of Frame Arms is the one who designed those original mechas who is no other than Takayuki Yanase who is most well known to be one of the lead mecha designer of Gundam 00. I will be keeping an eye with this mecha and i will just throw the lineart of Exbrau and Valhawk as references.

Frame Arms NSG-12α Kobold

This is one of the recent design for Kotobukiya's original mecha lineup Frame Arms. This Frame arms model probably represent heavy type for the faction that use SA-16 Stylet since they only have light armored type so far(and i have 2 of them). Kobold has 2 forms one is Hunchback humanoid with monoeye while the second form is shown on the pic above.

Kobold also can be combined with NSG-25 Strauss which is a bipedal mech to form mecha shown above which is obviously marketing campaign by kotobukiya. Both of these kits will be released on late September and probably i will likely to get Kobold while i am not sure whether to get Strauss or not.

Trombe and Granzon GET!

After a month of waiting i got both of these kits from AmiAmi. I had already planned to get these ones to add the collection for my SRW kits. Both of these kits are nonscale considering their real size are very big which makes 1/144 scale less plausible. AmiAmi had great sale for Aussenseiter right now and Granzon seems to be sold out though it is still available in Hobbysearch and HLJ. I used to plan buying this kit but i was late at making some decisions. Definitely it will be a great company for my Daizengar.

As for Granzon, i had no intention to get this kit until i got my 1/144 Cybuster. It seems that Kotobukiya decide to make it non scale since 1/144 kit would be too bulky which makes the kit really expensive despite the mecha is as tall as Cybuster.

I won't be building these anytime soon since i still had some more kit to work on first. I am still waiting for my another 2 SRW kits coming probably by next week and 1 in particular is pretty special.

I also got some Modelling Support Good Stuffs for Frame Arms kit. I didn't expect that the parts come unpainted which is not a problem for me but now i really doubt that Frame Arms kits are meant for beginners.

Wonderfest 2011 Kotobukiya releases

This year expect some Awesome releases by Kotobukiya. First of all SRW kit will get a Soulgain to add the lineup. This is one of the mecha that i have looking forward to get and definitely going to preorder this kit.

And Zero Schneider is confirmed to get a release for Zoids kits and this is one of the kit that i am looking forward to get as well. Fortunately Kotobukiya is considerate enough to release the separate CAS parts for the ones that had 1/72 Liger Zero already. Another kit that will be added in my list this year.

Didn't expect Zero will be added to Koto's Rockman lineup this fast. Thinking of getting this one as well if the price is reasonable.

Frame arms Lineup also got another new design and this time it appears to be another lineup for Gourai. I won't get this one but probably will get the 1/100 Lapieal which will be released this month.
