A rather pleasant surprise from SAMG’s Miniforce line. It’s been more than a year since Rex Kaiser first appeared. a mecha that feels almost too cool for a kids’ robot animation and now it’s making an unexpected comeback in a form that’s far more accessible to global collectors. Released as a Transcon event exclusive (seemingly some sort of a Chinese hobby convention), Rex Kaiser returns with a new color scheme as part of a combiner set dubbed SG Rex Kaiser D7. The set is scheduled for Q3 2026 with a retail price of 799 RMB.
In this version, you get yourself Rex Kaiser along with 6 other Mechas which makes thing very irressistible collectible. Based on what I gathered around you will get the following mechas in this boxset:
This version is essentially like SAMG Justice Titan Black but with improved availability for the global market. While it appears to omit the original Rex Kaiser combiner weapon, the set still offers tremendous value for overseas collectors by providing easier access to a complete Rex Kaiser package, something that has been notoriously difficult to obtain. And honestly, it remains impressively detailed for a robot originating from a kids’ show. Good thing I didn't jump in for Rex Kaiser Black and waiting for this combiner set with 7 Robots instead. For roughly twice the price, you’re getting not just Rex Kaiser, but the full lineup of seven combining robots alongside it.
China continues to play a unique role in the hobby scene, often turning previously hard-to-access items into limited releases that, paradoxically, become more attainable for international collectors. It’s a welcome trend, and one that hopefully paves the way for other standout Miniforce mecha to make a comeback in similarly accessible formats.
