Persona 3 D-Arts Elizabeth Review

Here comes the number 1 Elevator Attendant!

A slight delay from the planned schedule but this is the continuation for my Persona 3 Toys Review last month. I got D-Arts Elizabeth back in China around the same time with Thanatos which was a bargain for the price i acquired. I think D-Arts Elizabeth was meant to be sold with Thanatos as the pairing as a part of Persona 4 Arena lineup back then. The main reason I bought both Elizabeth and Thanatos is for anticipating the eventual release of P3 Protagonist which is completed by Max Factory which my gambit obviously paid off. But even if Figma Makoto Yuki didn't got released, the Elizabeth and Thanatos pair is still a worthy purchase.

Elizabeth makes her first debut in Persona 3 as the master of velvet room's assistant, Igor. Just like any of her siblings in the Persona 4&5, She helps P3 Protagonist through her service with Persona Compendium which enable the Protagonist to gain more powerful Persona as he gets stronger. However Elizabeth's encounter with Makoto Yuki makes her curious with Human World and from time to time she asks him to escort her to various places which usually end up in shenanigans. Eventually spending her time with Makoto Yuki makes Elizabeth getting attached with him and it is implied she had a one night stand with Makoto should he boldly accepts. Even after Makoto sacrifice himself to prevent Nyx reached Humanity, Elizabeth's bond with Makoto turns out so strong that She tried to find a way for him to be freed from the burden.

Even if Elizabeth served as supporting character in Persona series, she is powerful being by her own. She served as secret boss in Persona 3 who can easily finish Makoto Yuki if she wills it and in Persona 4 Arena it is shown that she easily get rid of Erebus, the enemy that even SEES members struggled to defeat.

Trying to pull that dancing pose from the Persona movie
I recalled the price tag of D-Arts Elizabeth are about the same with Thanatos but it is still a worthy purchase because this is the only action figure that she has and i recalled her Alter PVC figure fetched even more ridiculous price tag. In terms of articulation, Elizabeth is about the same with Figmas but her legs has limited posability due to her skirt which is why she comes with an alternative lower torso part. Her accessories really complement Figma Makoto Yuki should you get her especially with the Death Arcana card which completes his characterization.

In Persona 4 Arena, Elizabeth uses Thanatos exclusively as her persona and hers is quite a beast. Capable in both Melee and Magic, Elizabeth's Thanatos can spam 4dyne like no tomorrow and even uses Hama/Mudo as instant kills in the fighting game. Compared to other playable character, Elizabeth had rather steep learning curve but i would love to use her as my main should i ever considered to play the game again.

With the evident amount of the Elizabeth and Makoto pairing shots that i took, it is obvious that i am rooting for these two as the official pairing for Persona 3. I used to root for Mitsuru or Aigis but with the amount of materials released over time, Elizabeth become the undisputed partner for Makoto because her dedication even after he "died". Hopefully her effort will be paid off in a way because Makoto is too badass to remain as a doorlock.

It is such a shame that D-Arts lineup didn't live that long despite the good amount of popular character that is featured in this Action Figure lineup. I wonder what quantity Bandai consider for the Persona lineup to be successful. Even if the side character like Yosuke or Chie might not sell that well, at very least the popular characters like Izanagi, Thanatos and Elizabeth should do. In some way SHF inherited what left off from D-Arts but it is still not a good lineup for Bishoujo characters. I do hope the Persona 5 Royal would ramp up the popularity of the series once again.
