Mobile Suit Gundam Ensemble 07 Review

More Universal Century goodness on Gundam Candy Toys!

Settling another score here since i actually took the shots for Gundam Ensemble 07 around the same time with Gundam Ensemble 8. Gundam Ensemble 7 may not be as memorable compared to other two Ensemble volumes i reviewed, since all of the roster from this edition came from main Universal Century series. However Ensemble 7 still got gimmicks that makes it worth collecting

Gundam Ensemble 7 features Re-Gz, Gundam Mk-II and Geara Doga for the roster. The usual trend for Ensemble lineup is that it features 3 Mobile Suits coming along with Vehicle Unit that complement one of the Ms and then a heavy equipment for another MS. For Ensemble 7 the former comes to Gundam Mk-II with the G Defenser where as Gear Doga got the allocation for the heavy equipment.

Surprisingly Ensemble 07 doesn't follow the same trend with other Ensemble series as it include extra Geara Doga instead of full two sets

RGZ-91 RE-GZ

Following after Nu Gundam, the jobber MS in Char's Counterattack makes its appearance in Ensemble 7. The accessories is substandard because the BWS Pack is locked as P-Bandai Exclusive along with Sazabi.

RX-178 Gundam Mk-II

Just like Re-GZ, Gundam Mk-II also making a followup after Zeta Gundam from Ensemble 3. I wonder if the titans color version will be released in ensemble version too?

FXA-05D G-Defenser

The Support vehicle that comes in Ensemble 07 which is piloted by one of the most annoying character in Zeta Gundam. Together with Gundam Mk-II they formed...

RX-178 + FXA-05D  Super Gundam

With the G-Defenser, Gundam Mk-II becomes a heavy fire support with the main armament Long Rifle that should be capable of downing Battleships. The Ensemble could have used some missile effect units to make it more imposing.

AMS-119 Geara Doga

The workhorse of Char's Neo Zeon and Gundam Ensemble lineup treat this guy generously, possibly the best one so far. The Extra Equipment parts allows Ensemble Geara Doga to become the Kai, Leader or Heavy Armed type. Ensemble version makes a good showcase of Grunt Mobile Suit appeal. While they are not as strong as Elite Mobile Suit type, they have plenty of toys to play around to fit roles required for them.

Gundam Ensemble 7 is worth collecting as a whole set unlike the earlier release of Gundam Ensemble which are mixed bag most of the time. I will continue supporting this lineup as long as the roster are not dominated by Unicorn or Zeon units. I am looking forward for my copy of Ensemble 11 which should be coming by the end of this month.

  1. I see a lot play factor there especially when G-Defenser and Mark II combines.
