I never thought I would revisit Super Mecha Champions this fast as I have worked with all of materials I had with this series. But a noteworthy occasion still deserve to be given a spotlight! SMC might be completely abandoned by Netease and forced to close down its service early this year, but It doesn't mean that Chinese Manufacturers will stop making any new products for this hidden gem of Mecha game. From my random browsing on reddit, I come across new brick model products for SMC Mecha and this time it is from a manufacturer called JAKI or 佳奇 and they make 2, not 1 awesome SMC Brick Model for SMC new and fancier Mecha skins!
From JAKI we got ourselves some brick model for Aurora - Interstellar Pioneer and Skyfire - Echo of the Sky. These two brick models cost around 150-170 RMB in 1688 and stands around 30 cm tall. Expect the size of the product would be around Sembo 30 cm Brick Model like the J20 I reviewed on April and the quality appears to be even better than Sluban. From the brief background search of JAKI, they seem to have decent portfolio including the mecha variants which they worked on several licensed series. From their SMC lineup so far, Their Skyfire Brick Model caught my attention the most as it comes with transformation gimmick which looks very awesome.
Personally I am very happy to come across these new SMC products. Because not only I had the skins for these 2 Mecha when I played SMC during its last stretch, but also glad to see that there are people who do appreciate the good designs from SMC that Netease consider as trash just because they don't bring them the money they desire. Hopefully these SMC Brick models by Jaki could sell well and make it to overseas as well. I also wish JAKI could make the space version of Hot Steel Brick Model to complete the Hat trick because the design is truly a good one.
I would also like use the opportunity in this post to recommend players keep tab on Cyber Mecha Champions which is apparently a fan project to fill in the void by SMC. Nothing much certain at this point, but it doesn't hurt to keep some tab on this project. To wrap up this post, I will leave some reference material of JAKI's Brick model product for Aurora and Skyfire
