The 30 Minutes Fantasy lineup has finally ventured into the exotic oriental archetype. As a JRPG-inspired model kit series, the Samurai class was always one of the most anticipated additions to 30MF. Dubbed the Meteoric Iron Samurai, this new oriental branch breaks away from the established Liber/Rozan faction mold, much like the Nekros Knight did further expanding the creative spectrum of this promising lineup. Scheduled for release in September 2026, the 30MF Meteoric Iron Samurai will retail at 2,200 yen.
For this initial oriental wave, Bandai is introducing both the Grappler and Samurai classes. However, the sheer cool factor of the Samurai easily overshadows the Grappler, which leans more toward a hybrid ninja-monk aesthetic. The Samurai, by contrast, delivers exactly what fans would expect from the archetype; sharp silhouette, layered armor, and commanding presence.
As anticipated, the Samurai also receives a class upgrade kit in the form of the Shogun class, priced at 1,000 yen. This upgrade adds more intricate armor detailing along with a dual-wielding katana option, significantly enhancing its battlefield presence and display value.
The 30MF Meteoric Iron Samurai pairs exceptionally well with the new Yoroiden model kits which will see complete release within the 30MF lineup, making it a natural addition for collectors who appreciate a cohesive oriental theme.
Looking ahead, I’m especially excited for potential Ninja and Ronin classes to join 30 Minutes Fantasy. More samurai variants would certainly be welcome, the archetype has too much visual and thematic richness to stop at just one interpretation.
