Kotobukiya’s Hexagear line never fails to impress me. The company has consistently led the way in innovative design, and their latest release proves they’re still pushing boundaries—especially with a new take on an older style. The newest Hexagear unit, Magnagarmr, is a giant wolf mech set for release in June 2026, priced at ¥12,000.
Hexagear began almost a decade ago with animal-inspired mecha, evoking vibes similar to games like Horizon Zero Dawn. Magnagarmr feels like a special return to those roots, but with a modern twist: this model kit essentially offers two mecha in one. It blends the spirit of Konig’s Wolf (Zoids) with Barbatos Lupus Rex, featuring both an animal and humanoid mecha form in a single design. That combination makes it one of the most exciting Hexagear releases in recent years.
Aesthetically, Magnagarmr appears to be a mobility-focused unit, with plenty of customization options thanks to Kotobukiya’s MSG system. You can outfit it for a full Konig’s Wolf reenactment with an MSG sniper rifle, or transform it into the Lupus Rex mode with Wolfzerker’s sword-mace. The choice is yours and that’s what makes Magnagarmr such a standout release.
