1/72 VF-1S Review

Finally finished this Old kit from Bandai.

At last i managed to finish 1/72 VF-1S which makes my Macross collection goes up again lol. The VF-1S are Variable fighters specified for Squadron Leader since it is the best in terms of overall performance compared to other VF-1.

The Yellow Black Stripes is the custom paint scheme for Roy Focker, the mentor of Hikaru Ichijo and the leader of the squadron with code name Skull 1. He is one of the manliest pilot in macross universe, piloting Valkyrie while drunk and not afraid of death, too bad he died midway of the series.

I only watched the DYRL series but planning to watch the original one if i had some more time. Macross DYRL(Do you remember love) is very good movie and i would recommend any mecha fan to watch it. Things that make original macross is awesome is the Dogfight Theme.

Back to the review again, i finished my decaling and this time most of the decals are not torn off since i am pretty careful. Overall the results is really satisfying.

I haven't put the pilot miniature in the cockpit eventhough i had one since i am waiting to get the Hasegawa weapon sets in which it contain the more detailed pilot figure.

Compared to Hasegawa VF-1, Bandai's VF-1 is bulkier and perhaps less detailed compared to Hasegawa's probably it is due to being an old kit and the capability of transformation. However in terms of accuracy i don't know which one is more accurate.

Since this kit is old it comes unpainted which makes painting it difficult and mine doesn't look really good because i don't have proper tool for the painting. Another main problem for this kit is plenty of noticeable seamlines and i have no knowledge about method to fix seamlines.

For the Gerwalk mode the hands are unstable since they have no support but it is still okay.

I have to take back my words, after decalling the Battroid does not look that bad though as i said before, don't expect it is posable as Yamato toys since its articulation is severely limited.

If you are just beginning in model kits don't try to make this kit since it require more tools to make compared to your normal Gunpla otherwise it is a nice addition for your Macross collection.

  1. I have been browsing online more than 3 hours these days, but I by no means found any fascinating macross like yours. It’s lovely worth enough for me. In my view, if all web owners and bloggers made excellent content as you did, the web will likely be a lot more useful than ever before. I just ordered these consoles at PIJ! I’m excited! I’m going to have these in week! http://bit.ly/wNFdeA
