Mechatalk Final Gear: Akari Onikage - Shadowless

31st Mechatalk is here! While this series could have concluded all and well with Zero's mechatalk, Considering Final Gear's still had the will to survive for a bit more, might as well have this series run for a little longer at least until I have my Ariel made it to her UR Upgrade. This time we have another special SR character and probably the only character who had direct bloodline ties with our Blackark captain protagonist, Akari Onikage! Our half-sister and a former Kegha Imperial Assassin.

Born out of relationship between the First Blackark Captain and a Kegha Imperial Assassin, Akari Onikage grew up despising her father blaming him for the misfortune that her mother need to go through as her mother sacrifice everything to fall in love with the legendary mercenary Captain. Akari faces many hardship in her Childhood as she and her mother constantly travel from places to places doing odd jobs to survive as Akari's mother is hunted down by Kegha Imperial Assassins for abandoning her duty for the sake of Love. But eventually the Imperial Assassins caught up with both Akari and her mother and in order to save her mother, Akari volunteered herself to join Imperial Assassins.

In Final Gear, Akari Onikage is a SR Light Striker unit piloting a mech unit called Shadowless which bear resemblance to a Ninja Fox and happen to be another creation of of Dr Rinbell. One would wonder for such influential character still never made it to have her own unique mech.

Akari Onikage probably went through many perilous situations during her part of training as Imperial Assassin with the obssession of revenge toward her father. Eventually Akari is likely end up as one of the strongest member of the Imperial Assassins and performed many clandestine missions with ruthless efficiency as she is given a freedom to live a life as Bounty Hunter that still maintain some network with the organization when the need arises.

Akari was one of those SR characters who got their unique mech later on in Final Gear and her Shadowless Mech makes her one of the more unique Striker unit. Akari is probably the only Striker Unit who can fight like a shooter unit throwing barrages of Kunais from the distance and even have evasion bonus being part of the melee class. Out of the box, Akari is able to deal some respectable DPS for non SSR unit accompanied with some impressive visual. Overall Akari's Kit grant some Crit and Evasion bonus along with some self-survival skill but her High Gear build up is rather slow even for a Striker.

Along with her Unique Mech, Akari got her UR Upgrade as well which grants her Damage Bonus upon evasion which would seem to work out in PVP Mode quite well especially if she can dodge those bullets from Ruby. In terms of design she become more like a Monster Hunter Dual Blade user instead of typical Assassin. Unfortunately her UR version fell victim having no voice clip just like UR Aya Kujou as her seiyuu happened to be Ai Kayano.

It is quite surprising that Akari got an oath skin and one of the more normal interaction for the wedding scene which is probably part of the attempt from the dev to cater for the Sibling love niche. Akari have very cold interaction toward the main character at first due to the Captain remind her of her hated father but overall she had no particular malice toward our main protagonist and perhaps future iteration of Final Gear could explore this aspect even better.

Overall Akari is an unpolished gem of a waifu character that had her update came to late in Final Gear as the game started to go on a downward spiral until eventually crashed and burnt few months later. Akari has no part to be blamed for but her addition of Unique Mech and UR simply insufficient to reverse the misfortunes that Final Gear had due to long period of mismanagement. For now I still need around 400 Points of Evolution bit to upgrade my Ariel which roughly translates 4 weeks of effort but hopefully I can complete the effort before the end of this month if fortunate enough.
